Middleweight Star, Undefeated in the UFC, Reacts After Dricus Du Plessis Shuts Down Leg Break Rumors – ‘Stop Giving Me Hope Like This’

The MMA community had lately been rife with rumors that Dricus du Plessis had suffered a leg injury and was out of his expected title defense against Khamzat Chimaev at the UFC 317 event that’s set to transpire on June 28, 2025.

Well, du Plessis has since shot down the injury rumors and even claimed that he wasn’t booked to compete at the aforementioned event in June. Caio Borralho, a middleweight contender who is currently undefeated in the UFC, soon weighed in with his reaction to du Plessis’ assertion.

UFC Middleweight Star Caio Borralho Reacts After Dricus Du Plessis Shuts Down Leg Injury Rumors

Caio Borralho recently indicated that he’d learned that Dricus du Plessis has suffered a broken shin and that the leg injury had sidelined him from his expected UFC 317 fight against Khamzat Chimaev. In the wake of reports that du Plessis was dealing with a leg injury, certain sections of the MMA community speculated about whether Chimaev could face Borralho instead, possibly for an interim title.

During an appearance on “Submission Radio,” Dricus du Plessis’ coach Morne Visser subsequently clarified that the injury rumors weren’t true. Also, du Plessis himself has taken to social media and affirmed that he had never signed up to compete in June 2025.

In an Instagram post, “Stillknocks” wrote, “Okey so everyone had their opinions and rumours and stories about a shin break and injuries etc. I found it all very entertaining, unfortunately none of it is true myself and @ufc already discussed a fight date and opponent, the June fight was never signed I did not pull out of any fight, I am the champion I know when I fight you as a contender just show up when we tell you to. Fight announcement coming soon stay tuned. #preparetobeamazed #stillknocks”

As alluded to by Morne Visser, du Plessis is likely to defend his UFC middleweight championship against undefeated MMA star Khamzat Chimaev next. Incidentally, Chimaev’s former training partner, Caio Borralho, is also regarded as one of the top middleweights who’s currently in the title mix in the division.

Borralho has tasted defeat prior to joining the UFC but hasn’t lost since gracing the Octagon. He represents Brazil’s ‘Fighting Nerds’ camp that’s been making waves in the MMA realm as of late.

With his potential fight against Chimaev for interim UFC middleweight gold seemingly off the table, the Brazilian took to the comments section of du Plessis’ aforementioned Instagram post. Borralho left the following reaction with a few laughing emojis, “Brooo why u do that to me??? stop giving me hope like this.”
