Michael Chandler Speaks About the UFC 314 Loss on Social Media

Chandler recently uploaded a post to his Instagram account that featured several pictures of him during and after UFC 314. The post also included images of the injuries sustained by “iron” in the fight.

In the caption, Chandler wrote, “There are really no words to describe the pain and disappointment you feel… you just live in it… let it take its lot and leave you with what is left. From there, you rebuild. The best you can do is move forward with confident expectancy and pride in the attempt.”

Chandler went on to say he had no excuses for the loss and entered the fight fully prepared.

“One thing is certain, I can rest in knowing that I prepared the best I could and I alone was responsible for my shortcomings inside the octagon,” said Chandler. “My team prepared me. The UFC gave me the opportunity. I stepped into the ultimate proving grounds, ready. Bested, but never beaten. Never out of the fight. Still in pursuit.”

The 38-year-old also spoke about the support of his family and shared his optimism for the future.

“And this picture sums up how I feel and what truly matters. Bruised, bloody and heartbroken, yet I have my soulmate by my side and 3 little hands to hold. Future is still bright. Walk on. See you at the top!”

Dustin Poirier Weighs In on Chandler’s Performance at UFC 314

Chandler’s former rival Dustin Poirier was part of the analyst desk for UFC 314. After the event, “The Diamond” shared his thoughts on the co-main event between Chandler and Pimblett.

Poirier commented on Chandler’s performance, saying the 38-year-old looked slower in the second round and suggested his age may be catching up with him.

“We saw him lose again tonight, but not just lose, get rolled by a young guy,” said Poirier. “That was a beating… Didn’t look sturdy on his feet. Looked like he was slowing down, which we don’t see him ever slow down in the second round. He’s in phenomenal shape, looks great, but these years catch up to you, man.”
