Michael Bisping Speculates Why David Goggins Might ‘Precisely’ Be What Israel Adesanya Needs

Israel Adesanya is going through the toughest phase of his MMA career, as he is on a three-fight losing streak. Recently, former middleweight champion Michael Bisping gave a suggestion to Adesanya.

Bisping suggested that Adesanya train with retired Navy SEAL and athlete David Goggins, who is known for his incredible mental toughness and physical endurance, to get pushed by him and find himself again.

Michael Bisping Sees David Goggins as the Key to Israel Adesanya’s Comeback

Adesanya, who is considered among the greatest Middleweights of all time who graced the Octagon, has been going through the toughest patch in his career, as he has been able to win just one fight in his last five matches. That came against Alex Pereira in a rematch at UFC 287, where he reclaimed the belt. Following that, he lost the title to Sean Strickland at UFC 293.

Speaking on the “Believe You Me” podcast, episode No. 632, Bisping and Paul Felder discussed Adesanya’s current setbacks and advised him to train with Goggins to build mental toughness.

“The Count” says, “Maybe David Goggins is precisely what he needs, because he doesn’t need to learn how to fight, he just needs someone to tap into his mind.”

Felder agreed with Bisping’s advice and emphasized that it could be a great thing for “The Last Stylebender.”

“Yeah, and get him re-motivated. Yeah, listen, I think depending on what you’re using it for, this could be a great thing for him. Because if it’s just to get your a** back in gear and get you motivated like you’re saying,” Felder says.

Felder further highlighted that if Adesanya needs some push to bring the best out of him through mental toughness, Goggins is the guy who can pull it out of him.

“Maybe push yourself to another level that you’re not quite getting, just doing your basic everyday gym training. Felder said. “And you want to just kind of find out who you are, Goggins is the guy to pull that out of you.”

In his most recent UFC outing, Adesanya faced Nassourdine Imavov in the headliner of UFC Fight Night 250 at ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Nigerian-born Kiwi started strong in the first round, but he was knocked out in the second round.

This defeat marked his third consecutive loss in the promotion. As of now, it’s unclear when Adesanya will make his comeback. However, Sean O’Malley’s coach, Tim Welch, revealed that “The Last Stylebender” is in great shape and looking to run it back with Sean Strickland.
