Jon Jones Reacts to Daniel Cormier Revealing the Biggest Regret in His Illustrious UFC Career

During his stint at Light Heavyweight, Jon Jones, the current UFC Heavyweight champion, had a storied rivalry with Daniel Cormier. Jones gave Cormier his first defeat in professional MMA, followed by “DC’s” first TKO loss in the rematch before it was changed to a No-Contest due to a doping violation.

How Did Jon Jones React to Daniel Cormier’s Reveal of His Biggest Regret?

Daniel Cormier recently gave a seminar at Eddie Alvarez’s gym. One of the students at the workshop asked the former two-division champion what he was most proud of and his biggest regret.

Cormier explained that he started MMA at an older age, 31. As such, he feels proud that he achieved massive success in MMA, especially in the UFC, despite starting at a relatively older age.

As for his biggest regret, Cormier mentioned his rematch with Jones at UFC 214 in Anaheim. “I was fighting really well, and I kind of started talking to him, and I lost track and lost focus, and I end up getting kicked in the head,” Cormier said at the seminar.

“So, yeah, I should’ve stayed locked in. That’s probably the thing I regret the most. I just feel so good that night that I kind of got outside of myself a little bit,” Cormier added.

Jones noticed his former rival’s speech and shared it on his Instagram story, captioning it with three emojis. Take a look at it below.

Jones last fought at UFC 309, knocking out Stipe Miocic, who is 1-2 against Cormier in one of the best trilogies in Heavyweight history, in the third round. Though not officially announced, UFC CEO Dana White has said Jones vs. interim champion Tom Aspinall is what the promotion is looking for next.

PFL Heavyweight Expressed Interest in Fighting Jon Jones

Francis Ngannou, the former undisputed UFC Heavyweight champion, recently expressed interest in fighting Jon Jones. Although he is signed with the PFL, Ngannou doesn’t believe he needs to be in the UFC to fight “Bones.”

“I can fight Jon Jones without being in the UFC. Those two are separate. They don’t have to be the same thing,” Ngannou said in a recent interview with Ring Magazine.

Ngannou left the UFC after the promotion refused to heed his numerous demands. After the acrimonious split, “The Predator” fought two crossover boxing fights, against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, losing both.

In his last fight, he defeated Renan Ferreira to claim the inaugural PFL Super Fights Heavyweight title. Billed as PFL: Battle of the Giants, the fight ended in the first round.

Like Ngannou, Jones has also had a rocky relationship with the UFC. However, it has changed, and White has even defended “Bones” claim as the pound-for-pound best despite official rankings showing Islam Makhachev.

As for Ngannou, the Cameroonian was reportedly involved in a vehicle accident. The unfortunate incident allegedly claimed the life of a teenage girl in Cameroon.
