Jamahal Hill, the former undisputed UFC Light Heavyweight champion, was in attendance at UFC Kansas City. Hill recently gave a reality check to an undefeated fighter, who announced his UFC debut in style with a knockout victory in the prelims of the Fight Night card.
Hill last fought at UFC 311, losing to former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jiri Prochazka. Next for “Sweet Dreams” is a Fight Night main event against Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC Baku.
Jamahal Hill Hits Undefeated Fighter With a Reality Check
Jamahal Hill has won post-fight bonuses four times in the UFC. As somebody who knows something about it, Hill recently hit a UFC bantamweight phenom, Malcolm Wellmaker, with a reality check after the latter knocked out Cameron Saaiman at UFC Kansas City.
In the post-fight press conference, Wellmaker was asked whether he plans to quit his job as a pipe fitting welder to concentrate on his UFC career. “We’re going to find out when they dish out those bonuses. When they dish out them bonuses, I’m going to know if I’m going to work on Monday,” the 30-year-old said.

Wellmaker won the bonus, but it might not stop Wellmaker from returning to his old job. In FULL SEND MMA’s Instagram post highlighting the issue, Jamahal Hill wrote: “That bonus don’t hit your account for 45-60 days young brotha.”

As for his next fight, Wellmaker has called for a spot on the UFC Atlanta card, headlined by a welterweight bout between Kamaru Usman and Joaquin Buckley. In the post-fight press conference, UFC CEO Dana White seemed interested in giving a spot to the bantamweight.
A recent post by FULL SEND MMA revealed that Wellmaker quit his job.
Jamahal Hill Accurately Predicted UFC Kansas Main Event Winner
Jamahill was initially scheduled to headline UFC Kansas City with Khalil Rountree Jr. before an injury postponed the fight to UFC Baku on June 21. The promotion announced Carlos Prates vs. Ian Machado Garry as the new main event in their absence.
Preluding the fight, Hill broke down the fight on his YouTube channel, where he accurately predicted the winner. “I’m going to go with Ian Machado Gary,” Hill said.
“I just think that patience, the confidence that he got from that last fight, and how he performed against a Shavkat, a guy who should be fighting for the title, who wouldn’t, who isn’t because of injury,” the 33-year-old added.
Like Hill mentioned, Ian Machado Garry won the fight by dictating the pace. “The Future” controlled the fight in the first four rounds. However, Prates came close to finishing Garry in the waning moments of the fifth round. Ultimately, Garry won unanimously, scoring 48-47, 48-47, and 49-46.
