The UFC head honcho, Dana White, usually serves as the mediator during fighter face-offs, along with anchoring the pre-event press conferences. However, White’s busy schedule often leaves him unavailable for these tasks, which are then conducted by other UFC insiders like Jon Anik and Sean Shelby.
White recently earned some flak from a popular MMA influencer after his allegedly half-hearted conduct at the pre-UFC 315 press conference. The influencer also rated Anik as a far better choice than White for such programs.
MMA Influencer Says Dana White Was in a Hurry To Wrap Things Up During Pre-Event Press Conferences
Being the UFC CEO comes with a plethora of responsibilities for White. The 55-year-old is the leading man behind several departments of the company, many of which work in the background. White also appears before the camera to fulfill some of his UFC duties, including announcing the upcoming encounters and events.
Mediating pre-fight face-offs and anchoring UFC pre-event press conferences are two other duties that White fulfills with the cameras rolling. The Manchester, Conn., native has been a part of several memorable face-offs and press conferences, including the chaotic one between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
However, the massively followed MMA influencer, “THE MMA GURU,” recently expressed his discontent with the way White anchored the UFC 315 press conference. In one of his recent X updates, the influencer highlighted how the duration of White’s press conferences was “literally half” of the ones conducted by others like Anik.
“Somebody’s gotta say it. When Dana White hosts the UFC press conferences, they are literally half the time compared to when someone like Jon Anik does it.”
THE MMA GURU also criticized White’s half-hearted approach to the UFC 315 press conference. He alleged that the UFC boss probably had other plans, so he wrapped up the program “almost immediately” after its beginning.
He penned, “He does not care at all and would rather be somewhere else as soon as possible, wraps things up almost immediately.”

The influencer’s frustration is understandable, considering that UFC press conferences provide fans with plenty of insights about fighters and other company affairs. The longer they continue, the happier the fans are.
The influencer elected Anik as a better choice than White for pre-event press conferences to reduce their duration. However, several UFC insiders, including Joe Rogan, have praised Anik’s commentating skills multiple times, which also makes him much more soothing to fans’ ears.
