The retired French soccer star, Patrice Evra, recently surprised MMA fans as reports revealed that he had signed a contract with PFL and is about to make his pro-MMA debut next month.
A few wanted Evra to lock horns with a retired Uruguayan soccer icon for his first pro-MMA fight in PFL.
PFL Authorities Revealed the Date for Patrice Evra’s MMA Debut
The PFL authorities published an official report on Apr. 25, highlighting several key points related to Patrice Evra’s debut under the promotion. It revealed that the former Manchester United skipper started training in martial arts in 2016, while actively pursuing his career in soccer.
Evra’s link with the PFL superstar, Cedric Doumbe, stands as the primary factor behind his entry into professional combat sports. Doumbe has been with Evra since the start of his martial arts training in 2016. The official report from PFL also highlighted the 43-year-old’s comments, revealing further details about his PFL debut.
Evra said, “You guys should know by now, I love this game too! I’ve performed on the world’s biggest stages, won every major trophy in football [soccer], but PFL Europe Paris will be an incredibly special night for me.”
After disclosing that his debut would happen in “Paris”, the former captain of the French soccer team also said, “I’ve been training alongside the best in the world for years, and they’ll also tell you I’m ready for this. I’m going to put on a show at the Accor Arena on 23 May, so come watch the spectacle.”
The PFL report revealed that they will announce Evra’s opponent for the fight soon. However, several fans presented an eyebrow-raising choice of rival for Evra’s pro-MMA debut in the comments section of a related Instagram post by @mmajnkie.

They elected the 38-year-old Inter Miami star, Luis Suarez, as the rival for Evra’s pro-MMA debut under PFL. Suarez is also one of the most prominent figures in Uruguayan soccer, holding an international record of scoring 69 goals in 143 appearances.
One of the comments wishing for the Evra vs. Suarez fight read, “Give him Suarez from [Inter] Miami.”
Another fan mentioned, “Suarez also, please. So [that] Suarez can beat the sh*t out of him.”
