Jake Paul advanced to an 11-1 pro-boxing record with a victory against Mike Tyson in his last fight. Still, Paul hasn’t been able to gain the community’s respect as a regular boxer. Fans have bashed Paul on multiple grounds at several points to date.
However, a former UFC fighter recently came to Paul’s defense in this regard. The famed British fighter called for a change in the general fan narrative regarding Paul’s boxing skills.
Darren Till Labels Jake Paul a ‘Fighter’
Paul began his boxing career as a celebrity boxer, locking horns with other internet celebrities and influencers. After having his first two fights against such rivals, ‘The Problem Child’ moved on to take on regular fighters inside the ring.
However, his ventures didn’t provide him with enough credibility in the community, as all of them were retired UFC fighters, including the legend, Anderson Silva.

Paul’s subsequent decision to lock horns with regular contenders didn’t end well. The Ohio native endured the only defeat of his career against Tommy Fury after picking up four victories against retired UFC fighters. Paul locked horns with the UFC star Nate Diaz for his next fight, which ended in one more triumph for him.
The next two opponents Paul faced had fans accusing him of selecting low-caliber competition. Paul defeated the BKFC star Mike Perry and a 58-year-old Tyson in his next two fights, but neither could improve his reputation in the community. Plus, it is tough to ignore the rumors and speculation that opponents agree to fight and lose to Paul because it comes with a huge payday.
Paul is scheduled to face Julio Cesar Chavez, a former middleweight champ, for his next fight on June 28. A former UFC middleweight, Darren Till, recently offered his two cents on the upcoming encounter and expressed his appreciation for Paul.
Till recently called for a change in the community’s perception of Paul’s boxing skills. He mentioned that Paul might get defeated by Chavez in his upcoming fight, but he didn’t take anything away from the 28-year-old.
“Jake just keeps winning, so is he really that good?” Till said. “We all keep saying s*** about him. [But] let’s just stop being dummies for a second and take out the narrative that Jake Paul’s not a fighter or a boxer. He’s been boxing for years now, with a fully equipped team by him 24/7.”
Till also revealed his wish to lock horns with Paul in the future. His appreciative words for ‘The Problem Child’ might come in handy in materializing his desire.
