‘SOMEBODY Remember the Name’ – Fans in Splits as the Montreal Commissioner at the UFC 315 Weigh-Ins Fails To Recognize Belal Muhammad

Belal Muhammad’s UFC record and moniker are two significant factors with which he aims to leave his mark in the community. Muhammad’s stellar record and UFC championship run have significantly boosted his popularity in the community. However, some still fail to recognize him despite having an acronym that asks them to remember his name.

Several MMA fans relished witnessing Muhammad experiencing a similar incident during his pre-UFC 315 weigh-ins.

Belal Muhammad’s Identity Was Confirmed After a Check

A large chunk of the UFC community has derided Muhammad on multiple occasions due to his lack of finishes on his pro-MMA record. The Palestinian-American currently holds a remarkable record of 24-3 in his entire pro-MMA career, along with a UFC record of 15-3. Yet, a look at the results of his UFC encounters reveals that he has finished only three of his rivals to date.

Finishes often help fighters garner instant attention from the community. Despite boasting a stellar record, Muhammad hasn’t delivered enough of such moments in his UFC career, which has significantly hurt his popularity.

An incident at the recently concluded UFC 315 weigh-ins implied that Muhammad continues to be one of the lesser-known fighters despite being a UFC champion. An X update Oscar Willis showcased that the Montreal commissioner supervising the weigh-ins had to confirm “Remember The Name’s” identity with a cross-check before allowing him onto the scale.

Fans were in splits after witnessing Muhammad’s identity being confirmed before his weigh-ins despite the Palestinian-American being the headliner of the event. One of them mentioned, “SOMEBODY remember the name.”

Another fan stated, “Lmao it’s gotta be a running joke at this point.”

One more wrote, “He obviously didn’t ‘Remember the Name’,” with a fourth iterating, “Commissioner didn’t remember the name.”

Another user mentioned, “If he fought more often, people would remember him.”

Muhammad had a similar experience during his visit to UFC 310. The reigning welterweight champ was scheduled to lock horns with Shavkat Rakhmonov for his first title defense encounter at the main event. However, a bone infection on Muhammad’s left foot ruled him out of the fight, with Ian Machado Garry stepping in as his short-notice replacement.

Rakhmonov maintained his spot as a deserving title-shot contender with a unanimous decision victory over Garry. The UFC authorities also arranged an in-Octagon face-off between Rakhmonov and Muhammad, who was enjoying the action from the crowd.

However, the in-arena security failed to recognize the reigning welterweight champion and stopped him on his way to the Octagon. Only after UFC color commentator Joe Rogan’s instruction was Muhammad allowed into the Octagon.

The incident became the talk of the MMA town soon after it happened. Muhammad was derided by a large chunk of the UFC community following this incident, with the MMA icon Conor McGregor leading the charge.
