MMA fans recently voiced their opinions after witnessing Alex Pereira’s sparring clip with a relatively unknown fighter. One of them highlighted how Pereira faced adversity early in the clip of his sparring.
Alex Pereira Sharpening His Weapons After UFC 313 Loss
Alex Pereira endured a unanimous decision defeat against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313, which took away his UFC light heavyweight gold. But Pereira refused to give up hope as he intended to make a strong comeback in his upcoming fight.
The UFC brass has yet to provide concrete information about Pereira’s next fight, but a rematch against Ankalaev is the most probable choice.
However, Pereira’s recent Instagram story showcased that he has returned to training, irrespective of when his next fight gets announced. The former light heavyweight champ visited the Knockout Squad MMA training facility in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, for sparring sessions with a few practitioners.
A recent update shared by @ChampRDS on X highlighted a few moments of Pereira’s session with one of them. It displayed his partner putting up some remarkable resistance to his strikes.

Alex Pereira successfully defended his UFC light heavyweight gold for the first time with a victory against Jamahal Hill at UFC 300. “Poatan” finally lost his title at UFC 313 after three successful title defenses, with the final one coming against Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307.
However, UFC boss Dana White’s words regarding Pereira’s loss indicate that a rematch against Anakalev may not be far away.
In an interview with Home Of Fight a few weeks back, Pereira’s former rival, Hill, offered him a few suggestions about his potential rematch against Ankalaev. “Sweet Dreams” advised Pereira to work on his cardio and increase the volume of his “output” to gain better results in the second installment of his rivalry with Ankalaev.
Hill said, “He’s going to have to be locked into the gym (and train until) he doesn’t get tired, he’s going to have to up his cardio a lot because his output will have to go up. His output with the kicks, adding more kicks and working a lot more with a higher volume of kicks in this fight, would get it done. But we’ll see.”
