The aforementioned post’s comments section was filled with good wishes that poured in for “The Diamond” and his wife. BJJ savant and UFC women’s strawweight contender Mackenzie Dern wrote, “Congrats! Diamond family growing!” MMA great and former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk asserted, “Congrats.”

Similarly, Ryan Marie Miocic, wife of former UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic, noted, “Congratulations, what a blessing.” UFC interviewer and on-screen personality Megan Olivi, who is herself expecting her first child with ex-UFC fighter Joseph Benavidez, wrote, “YES!!!!!!!!”

UFC commentator and former MMA fighter Laura Sanko exclaimed, “Congratulations!!!!” UFC women’s bantamweight contender Kayla Harrison, who’s long trained at ATT (American Top Team) where Poirier also trains, noted, “Yassssssssss this is the best news!!! Congrats!”

One fan commented, “Omg so exciting!!! Yayyy!! Congratulations.” Another said, “Omg!!! Congratulations to both of you!! Big sister P is gonna be the best!”

Over the past several months, Poirier has maintained that he’s likely to retire from the sport of MMA. Earlier this year, the former interim UFC Lightweight Champion had hinted that he’ll hang up the gloves after his next Octagon appearance.

Poirier is now scheduled to take on former UFC Featherweight Champion and reigning BMF Champion Max Holloway.

They previously clashed twice, with Poirier submitting Holloway in a featherweight bout on the latter’s debut in 2012 and besting him via unanimous decision in their interim UFC lightweight championship bout in 2019. Their upcoming trilogy fight, to be contested at lightweight, would serve as the Louisiana native’s MMA retirement match.

The much-awaited fight has Holloway’s BMF belt at stake. It’ll headline the UFC 318 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which will go down at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, on July 19, 2025.
