UFC’s Colby Covington Trains Donald Trump’s Family Member in MMA Moves the President Wants Secret Service To Learn

UFC fighter Colby Covington recently shared a glimpse of a training session with a member of U.S. President Donald Trump’s family.

The session follows reported interest from both Trump and FBI Director Kash Patel in having UFC fighters provide martial arts and self-defense training to personnel in federal agencies like the FBI and Secret Service.

Former interim UFC Welterweight Champion Colby Covington has long been an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump, the Republican leader currently serving his second term as U.S. President. Trump’s first term ran from January 2017 to January 2021, with his second beginning in January 2025.

Earlier today, Covington posted a video on his official X account, revealing that he took part in an MMA training session with Lara Trump, the President’s daughter-in-law, and shared combat techniques with her.

In the video, Covington said, “Today, we’re doing some training with Lara Trump. I’m gonna show her some training that her father-in-law Donald Trump wants the [U.S.] Secret Service to be certified in the MMA world. So I’m gonna teach her some techniques that could help Secret Service and that could help the first family in case of any danger or threats.”

Moreover, the statement in his tweet read, “Thanks to Lara Trump for inviting me onto Fox News to demonstrate how to train the FBI and Secret Service to become MMA certified … Hope you all got to learn some great self defense drills in this highlight from Lara Trumps show “My View” available in full on Fox News #ColbyCovington @BCGAME #FoxNews”

Colby Covington revealed that the full version of his training session and interview with Lara Trump will air on her Fox News show, My View. In the highlights shared via his recent tweet, the UFC fighter demonstrated both grappling and striking techniques.

Covington emphasized the importance of wrestling fundamentals—takedowns, holds, and drills—that could help Secret Service agents neutralize potentially armed threats. He also broke down striking basics, including the 1-2 punch combination (jab-cross) and follow-up strikes like kicks, all aimed at incapacitating an attacker.

However, “Chaos” noted that real-world confrontations are unpredictable and often involve weapons. He advised Lara Trump on self-defense tactics, even suggesting eye pokes as a last-resort measure in life-threatening situations. Covington also stressed the value of footwork and movement to avoid being a stationary target during an altercation.

Currently, Covington is on a two-fight skid in the UFC. His most recent bout ended in a TKO loss due to a cut against Joaquin Buckley in December 2024. Still, he’s expressed interest in returning to the Octagon for potential matchups against MMA legends Nate Diaz and Nick Diaz.

The American was also involved in a verbal back-and-forth with England’s Paddy Pimblett earlier this month. As of this time, Covington’s next fight hasn’t been officially announced.
