Where Is Cody Garbrandt From and Who Are His Parents? The UFC Star’s Ethnicity, Nationality, and Family Background

Cody Garbrandt is a 33-year-old MMA fighter who currently competes in the UFC’s bantamweight division. “No Love” has a 14-6 professional MMA record, and 11 of those victories have come via knockout.

Where Does Cody Garbrandt Hail From?

Garbrandt is an American born on Jul, 7, 1991, in Uhrichsville, Ohio. According to the former UFC champion, he was primarily raised by his mother as his father spent most of his time in jail for his offences. When Garbrandt was a year old, an instance of domestic abuse resulted in the separation of his parents.

At the age of four, Garbrandt and his elder brother Zach ventured into the world of boxing. But their mother was concerned about the two boys taking damage and thus, made them transition to wrestling.

“No Love” participated in wrestling and football during his time at Claymont High School but eventually returned to boxing and built up an impressive amateur profile.

Garbrandt joined Newberry College but dropped out due to personal reasons.

After that, “No Love” took up several roles, such as selling marijuana, working as a bouncer, and training as a coal miner, to support his family. He then decided to shift his focus to pursuing a career in MMA.

Garbrandt’s professional MMA journey started in December 2012 when he made his debut against Charles Kessinger and knocked him out in the opening round of the bout.

After building a 5-0 record, the 33-year-old joined hands with the UFC. He fought Marcus Brimage for his UFC debut at UFC 182 in January 2015. Garbrandt finished his opponent via TKO in the third round of the contest.

“No Love” won his first five fights in the UFC, which led to his matchup against Dominick Cruz for the bantamweight title at UFC 207. Garbandt outclassed Cruz that night and defeated him via unanimous decision to capture the title.

From that point onwards, things went south for Garbrandt as he lost his next three fights in a row, including two championship fight losses against T.J. Dillashaw.

“No Love” then scored a spectacular KO victory against Raphael Assunção at UFC 250.

However, he failed to build momentum with the win and lost his next two fights against Rob Font and Kai Kara-France, respectively.

Garbandt then came back in 2023 and won two fights in a row. The 33-year-old’s last UFC fight was at the historic UFC 300 event.

He took on former UFC Flyweight Champion Deiveson Figueiredo in a three-round clash that ended with Garbrandt being submitted in the second round.
