Chael Sonnen Picks Conor McGregor for a 2v2 Fight, Mackenzie Dern Reacts to His Hilarious Justification
In a recent Instagram post by ESPN MMA, a hypothetical question was posed to UFC fighters that took a hilarious turn thanks to Chael Sonnen. The former Light Heavyweight contender was asked to choose a fighter to join him in a 2v2 fight and explain his reasoning, “Which UFC fighter would you want as your partner in a 2v2 fight and why?”
Sonnen, known for his witty responses, picked Conor McGregor and gave a sarcastic explanation, “Conor, because it’s been so long since he’s fought, he’s well-rested. And it’s been so long since he’s won, he’s overdue. All I need are his percentages and probabilities—I’ll fight the two guys myself.”

Sonnen’s remarks served as a lighthearted jab at McGregor for his long hiatus from the octagon, while also showcasing the UFC Hall of Famer’s confidence in himself to take on two opponents alone. His witty response quickly went viral on Instagram, drawing reactions from fans and fighters alike. UFC strawweight Mackenzie Dern commented, “Hahaha @sonnench is funny.”

“The Notorious” has been on a long hiatus from the octagon. He last fought Dustin Poirier in their trilogy bout at UFC 264, where he suffered a leg injury in the first round, resulting in a TKO victory for Poirier. The Irish star was set to return at UFC 303 against his rival, Michael Chandler, however, he was forced to withdraw due to a toe injury.
Chael Sonnen Believes Conor McGregor Would Be the Worst Fighter on the UFC Roster if He Returns
MMA fans have been eagerly waiting for Conor McGregor’s return, but it doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon. On his YouTube channel, Chael Sonnen weighed in on the potential return of “The Notorious.” Sonnen made a bold claim, stating that if the first simultaneous two-division UFC champion were to come back, he’d be the worst fighter on the roster.
“There is not an athlete under contract with the UFC that Conor can beat. That’s not meant to be mean. The worst, the least experienced 155-pounder would clean him up. The worst, the least experienced 170-pounder would clean him up. If Conor was to come back and enter at 55 or enter at 70, he would be the worst in the entire division. Not because he wasn’t great, just ’cause he hasn’t been doing it.”
Conor McGregor has expressed his intention to run for President of Ireland and has hinted at a possible retirement from MMA.
