‘+100 Stat Buff’ – Fans React to Carlos Prates’ Mother’s Explosive Advice for Ian Machado Garry Fight

Carlos Prates may be stepping into the UFC Kansas City main event on short notice, but his mother’s fiery advice has already lit a fuse under the Brazilian slugger. Ahead of his clash with Ian Machado Garry this Saturday, a clip from UFC Journey featuring a surprise call from Prates’ mother has gone viral — and fans are absolutely here for it.

Fans Erupt Over Carlos Prates’ Mom’s Words

During a segment of ESPN’s UFC Journey, the Brazilian welterweight received a call from his mother that lit up social media. In the viral clip, she gave him blunt, fiery advice, saying, “Don’t give the opponent a chance to play too much. Do you understand? And finish the war quickly. The way mommy likes it, with a perfect finishing touch!”

The clip quickly went viral, sparking fan reactions that ranged from admiration to hilarity. One user commented, “+100 stat buff,” implying Prates just received a power boost.

Others chimed in with quips like “Yeah, mommy knows what tf is up” and “Mommah said knock you out.”

Another fan speculated: “If bro starches Ian and gets on the mic and says ‘momma said knock you out’ and then lights a cigarette. He would become an instant star.”

The motherly advice isn’t entirely out of place. Prates has built a reputation for finishing fights in devastating fashion, often within the first two rounds. The Brazilian’s high-pressure, no-nonsense style aligns perfectly with his mother’s encouragement.

A Look Into Carlos Prates’ MMA Career

Prates’ path to the UFC was anything but smooth. He turned pro in 2012, and his first nine bouts yielded a modest 5-4 record. Early losses stemmed from poor weight management and inconsistent training. But his game changed after time in Thailand, where he immersed himself in Muay Thai and began refining the violent, finish-oriented style fans now love.

He carved out a name for himself on the Asian regional circuit, including wins in China’s Chin Woo Men promotion and Thailand’s Full Metal Dojo. A 2016 submission win over Yousef Wehbe was a turning point. He later joined ONE Championship’s Warrior Series in 2019, scoring notable wins before earning a UFC contract via Dana White’s Contender Series in 2023 with a second-round knockout.

From there, Prates exploded onto the UFC scene. He debuted in February 2024 with a KO win over Trevin Giles, then stopped Charles Radtke with a vicious knee to the body. His power was undeniable — and so were the bonuses. Each of his first three UFC wins earned him Performance of the Night honors.

His next step was a pay-per-view debut at UFC 305, where he became the first fighter to knock out Li Jingliang. That was followed by a main event showdown with veteran Neil Magny, where Prates again secured a first-round KO after defending all of Magny’s takedown attempts.

His bout with Geoff Neal at UFC 314 was scrapped when Neal withdrew, but Prates didn’t wait long to jump back into action. Now, he finds himself in another marquee spot — this time against Ian Machado Garry, a rising Irish star coming off a tough loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov.

The stakes are high, and the fans are hyped about UFC Kansas City. With Prates riding a wave of viral momentum — and perhaps an extra power boost from mom — Saturday night could be another highlight-reel moment.
