‘Abduction’ Rumors About Nick Diaz Draw Concerned Reactions From MMA Veterans After Coach’s Update

Nick Diaz’s longtime coach, Cesar Gracie, recently shot down the rumors of his alleged abduction. Gracie even indicated that the UFC great was no longer in a relationship with his partner/girlfriend Kay, who’d claimed that Diaz had been abducted.

A couple of MMA veterans have now touched upon the situation, expressing their concerns for the legendary Diaz.

Former UFC Fighters React to Update by Nick Diaz’s Coach Amid Abduction Rumors

Over the past several days, a few Instagram Stories posts by Nick Diaz’s partner Kay have been a much-discussed topic among fight fans. Nick and his younger brother Nate Diaz — both of whom are held as MMA legends and UFC icons — recently unfollowed one another on Instagram.

It’s believed to be a foreboding development, as it comes at a time when Kay has suggested that Nick was abducted and taken to a rehabilitation facility in Mexico, where he’s allegedly being held against his will. She implied that Nate and the UFC were paying for Nick’s treatment at the facility and that his cousin Ruben was overseeing Nick’s treatment.

Meanwhile, in a Facebook post via BJJ trainer Dylan Dearborn and Infinity Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Dearborn asserted that Nick is “alive and well” and that he’s been training and guiding Nick in Mexico. Also, via the Infinity BJJ Instagram handle, Dearborn asserted that Nick’s family, the UFC, and the place he’s staying in are all supporting him in his journey. His Instagram post comprised Diaz’s photos, which he claims are from their training sessions in Mexico.

Furthermore, Cesar Gracie — a member of the famed Gracie BJJ family and a well-known coach of Nick — took to Instagram and provided a notable update. Gracie wrote, “Nick is healthy and well. Not cloned or kidnapped. Has not joined MS-13. Does not have a girlfriend but is probably looking.”

Around the 53:04-minute mark of Michael Bisping’s “Believe You Me” podcast episode, Bisping and his podcast co-hosts reacted to Gracie’s assertion. Bisping speculated about whether Diaz’s friends and family held an intervention to help him battle his alleged addiction issues.

The retired MMA fighter stated, “So, abducted? I mean, that’s a strong word. Kidnapped, abducted — it sounds like an intervention.” Moreover, the UFC Hall of Famer then questioned whether there was indeed no abduction in the situation.

“The Count” noted, “So, what is he saying there, Brian? So, that this whole thing is false?” Bisping alluded to the confusion surrounding Diaz’s situation. He and his podcast co-hosts, including fellow MMA veteran Paul Felder, speculated about whether it was legal to admit someone to a rehabilitation facility without their consent.

Meanwhile, Felder harked back to the much-discussed video footage from 2024, wherein a person setting objects on fire behind bushes was believed to be Diaz. On that note, Felder stated there’s been speculation that the Stockton-born fighter had allegedly been using meth. The ex-UFC lightweight added, “Yeah. He’s got to get it together, man.”

Bisping reacted by sending his good wishes to Diaz in what’s apparently a challenging phase for the legendary fighter. The former UFC Middleweight Champion asserted, “I wish him nothing but the best, regardless of whatever it is — whatever demons or problems he’s having. I hope it all figures out.”
