FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots apparently are doing something in reaction to the Tyreek Hill controversy, but the details are unclear.

On Wednesday, head coach Jerod Mayo was asked for his reaction to Hill’s now-infamous traffic stop before the Miami Dolphins home opener on Sunday. Hill was pulled over for allegedly speeding and eventually handcuffed and pushed to the ground — but not arrested — after a dispute over his driver’s-side window during the stop.

What Patriots Head Coach Jerod Mayo Said About Tyreek Hill Controversy

Mayo gave an interesting but vague answer when asked about Hill’s situation before Wednesday’s Patriots practice.

“I’m not going to get too far into that,” Mayo said. “What I will say is that I met with the captains and we had a conversation on how to approach it as a team. Those guys handled it in the locker room.

“It is a conversation we had, and we’ll see how it goes and how it looks going forward.”

The Patriots will host the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday. Their first game against the Dolphins is scheduled for Oct. 6 at Gillette Stadium.

What’s the Latest on Hill’s Situation?

Hill has continued to call for the firing of Officer Danny Torres, the 27-year veteran of the Miami-Dade Police Department who pulled him from his car during the traffic stop.

“Gone. Gone. Gone. Gone. He gotta go,” Hill said during a Wednesday media availability.

Torres was placed on administrative leave after MDPD opened an investigation into the incident. He and a local police union have since lobbied for his reinstatement.

Meanwhile, Hill’s attorneys have threatened to sue the department and the officers involved in the traffic stop.

Hill has drawn criticism for refusing to roll down his window during the traffic stop. On Wednesday, the star receiver acknowledged he should’ve handled the situation differently.

“Yes,” Hill told reporters. “I will say I could have been better.”

Hill caught seven passes for 130 yards and a touchdown in Miami’s season-opening win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He and the Dolphins will kick off Week 2 on Thursday night when they host the Buffalo Bills at Hard Rock Stadium.
