The same cruel prankster who targeted former Colorado Buffalo and new Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders apparently also struck during the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that top tight end prospect Tyler Warren was also prank-called, with the individual pretending to be Jets general manager Darren Mougey. Warren, widely regarded as the top player at his position, eventually went to the Indianapolis Colts at pick No. 14 in the first round.

Shedeur Sanders Was Subject to a Cruel Prank Call During His Draft Slide
Like Warren, Shedeur Sanders was also the victim of a mean-spirited prank during the NFL Draft. He answered a phone call, believing he was speaking with New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis.
The caller said, “This is Mickey Loomis here, (general manager) of the (New Orleans) Saints. It’s been a long wait, man. We’re gonna take you with our next pick right here, man.”
Sanders replied, “Yes, sir, let’s be legendary.”
The caller then added, “But you’re gonna have to wait a little bit longer, man. Sorry about that,” before promptly hanging up.
The New Orleans Saints later selected Tyler Shough of Louisville with the 40th overall pick in the second round. Sanders didn’t hear his name called out until the fifth round, at pick No. 144, when the Cleveland Browns drafted him.
The NFL has announced it will be investigating the prank call made to Sanders.
Son of Falcons’ Defensive Coordinator Jeff Ulbrich Believed To Be Behind Prank Calls
The pranksters were partially identified after posting video of the call to Sanders online during a livestream. The unidentified caller appeared to be a young, Caucasian male wearing a blue Ole Miss sweatshirt. However, it is believed that in the background was Jax Ulbrich, son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich.
Sanders had been issued a dedicated phone number for the NFL Draft, made available only to NFL executives as part of the pre-draft process. It’s possible that a family member of a coach or personnel executive gained access to the number — and that may have been the case with Jax Ulbrich.
This incident has raised serious questions about whether there should be tighter security around team and player communications in the months leading up to the NFL Draft.
Jax Ulbrich has since deleted his Instagram account. Meanwhile, another rumor making the rounds suggests the leak may have originated from New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen’s daughter, Sydney, who attends the University of Mississippi — making the connection to the caller’s Ole Miss apparel obvious. Schoen also spent considerable time with Sanders during the pre-draft process.
