Is Tyler Lockett Playing Tonight? Examining the Seahawks WR’s Status vs. the Lions After Surfacing on Injury Report

Tyler Lockett appeared on the Seahawks' injury report ahead of tonight's game against the Lions. Will Lockett play in tonight's game?

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett appeared on the team’s injury report ahead of their “Monday Night Football” showdown against the Detroit Lions. What is Lockett’s injury, and will he be able to play tonight? Here’s the latest on Lockett’s status.

What’s the Latest on Tyler Lockett’s Injury?

Lockett has been battling a thigh injury since Week 1, so this is nothing new for the veteran wide receiver.

Fortunately, his thigh issue hasn’t caused him to miss a game so far this season, and tonight against the Lions is no different.

Seahawks fans and fantasy managers shouldn’t worry about Lockett. While he was listed on the injury report, he doesn’t even have an injury designation for tonight’s game against (just as he hasn’t had one the last two weeks), so he’s good to go.

The Seahawks will have their veteran wideout tonight against the Lions.

    Lockett’s Fantasy Outlook

While DK Metcalf is the Seahawks’ clear-cut WR1, it’s tough to predict who will be Seattle’s WR2 out of Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba from game to game.

Last week, Lockett had eight targets and more yards than JSN. However, the week before, Smith-Njigba had a whopping 16 targets, which he turned into 12 receptions for 117 yards. In Week 1, it was once again Lockett who had the advantage in targets, receptions, and yards, finishing with six catches for 77 yards to JSN’s two catches for 19 yards.

Smith-Njigba is certainly the higher-upside play, but it feels like neither can truly emerge as an every-week WR2 as long as they are competing with one another.

So far this season, neither Lockett nor Smith-Njigba has scored a touchdown.

Lockett’s fantasy production has dipped over the last two years. After finishing as the WR13 in PPR leagues in 2022, he fell to the WR32 last year after finishing with just 894 yards and five touchdowns. This marked his first time finishing with fewer than 1,000 receiving yards since 2018 (when he had 965 yards).

Now, with JSN’s emergence, he might fall out of the WR3 range as well.
