Tyler Conklin Fantasy Waiver Wire: Analyzing If You Should Consider Adding the Jets TE

Should you add Tyler Conklin on the fantasy football waiver wire in Week 6? Let's look at cases for and against picking up the Jets' tight end.

Once again, tight end is a black hole in fantasy football. There aren’t many high-end options, and even the best players are prone to quiet stretches.

Tyler Conklin operates in a grey area. The New York Jets tight end is neither a bum nor a no-doubt No. 1 tight end. He’s a solid, unspectacular player capable of putting up good numbers, as we saw in Sunday’s six-catch, 55-yard effort against the Minnesota Vikings.

But should you consider adding Conklin, who’s rostered in just 37.2% of ESPN leagues, to your team? Let’s dive into it.

Should Tyler Conklin Be Added Off the Fantasy Waiver Wire in Week 6?

    Sure, why not?

Given the dearth of reliable tight ends in fantasy football, managers should throw as many darts as possible at backup options until one sticks. Conklin is best suited as your TE2 but can be a serviceable starter in a pinch. Just prepare for a potential dud.

We’ve already gotten the full Conklin experience this season. After catching just one ball in each of the first two games, he broke out for five catches and 93 yards in Week 3.

It was easy to dream big about his connection with Aaron Rodgers.

Then he posted just four catches for 17 yards in Week 4 before eclipsing 50 yards on Sunday. The roller coaster continues.

Nevertheless, so long as Rodgers is playing quarterback in New York, there’s a chance Conklin emerges as a reliable fantasy tight end with an acceptable floor. After all, he ranks third among Jets pass catchers (not including Breece Hall) with 27 targets and is the clear top option in the tight end room.

If your fantasy team has a No. 2 tight end with more upside than Conklin, then good for you. Otherwise, consider adding Conklin if he’s available.
