Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift Seen at Australia Zoo Ahead of Eras Performance

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's latest stop involved a trip to the Sydney Zoo. Their visit sparked plenty of reactions, including from PETA.

The NFL world became fixated on Taylor Swift throughout the 2023 season, given her romantic link to Super Bowl-winning tight end Travis Kelce. Turns out fans are still eyeing their every move now that the season is over.

And their latest rendezvous? A trip to the zoo — which sparked some worldwide attention, including from a notable animal rights group.

Kelce’s first stop in the NFL offseason involves a trip to the land down under. He’s in Australia — the sight of his Grammy-winning soulmate’s next concert tours.

However, the renowned power couple managed to schedule some animal sightseeing.

First reported by in Sydney Thursday, the three-time Super Bowl champion and 12-time Grammy winner were spotted at the Sydney Zoo, which the outlet says was a private tour for both.

This became Swift’s second trip to the zoo, as she previously was without Kelce momentarily during her first visit as he was flying into Sydney on Thursday morning.

Via Sydney affiliate Nine News, the couple were spotted feeding kangaroos:

There was also a sky view video of the couple walking around and checking out the wildlife.

Swift and Kelce were even spotted taking selfies of their zoo excursion.

While fans of Swift, or even Kelce and Kansas City Chiefs fans, would look at this in the name of cuteness and awe, not everyone sounded pleased about seeing the couple take in a zoo day.

PETA Foundation Director Criticizes Swift and Kelce for Zoo Trip

Count PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) foundation director of captive animal welfare Debbie Metzler as one who was critical of Swift and Kelce’s Sydney appearance.

Via TMZ, Metzler offered a strong reaction to watching Kelce and Swift roam around the zoo and feeding animals.

“While we understand all too well the appeal of seeing Australia’s wildlife, PETA hopes that next time Taylor and Travis want to see wild animals, they’ll spend their time and money at a true sanctuary,” Metzler said.

Why a “true sanctuary” and not a zoo? Metzler explained that at the former, visitors aren’t allowed to touch or feed the animals in place. Visitors are also encouraged to keep a “respectful” distance from the animals present. Most zoos, however, allow visitors to become more hands-free with the wildlife in their venue and can allow people to touch and feel the animals.

Still, PETA’s response to watching Kelce and Swift’s zoo day led to social media reactions directed at the organization.

“Leave it to PETA to make me a fan of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce,” one fan joked on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Radio personality Jesse Christianson of Wild 94.5 FM in Alberta, Canada, joked about how Swifties vs. PETA will lead to “Bad Blood” between both parties — in reference to Swift’s popular hit song alongside Grammy-winning hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar.

Swift is scheduled to perform four different shows between Feb. 23-26 in Sydney. Following her Sydney set, she’ll head to Singapore.

With Kelce in the offseason, he gets the luxury of taking in her tour performances. Although, the month of March doesn’t have any tour dates. This means there’s no telling what the couple’s plans are during the month of NFL free agency and trades.

But still, Kelce gets plenty of time to take in a world tour with Swift, even if it means more worldwide attention.
