Travis Hunter remains the talk of the town in the NFL as Travis Kelce chimed in with his opinion. The three-time Super Bowl Champion had high praise for the Colorado graduate, but knows that playing both ways will be challenging.
That’s not to say that Hunter isn’t up to it, but it remains to be seen how well his style of play will translate to the NFL.

Travis Kelce Knows Teams Will Try to Break Down Travis Hunter
Having played both ways in college, Hunter is confident in himself, and the Jacksonville Jaguars also believe in him. Without live-ball snaps, it’s hard to say if Hunter can continue his dominance on both sides.
With the preseason looming, Kelce knows that Hunter has his work cut out for him in the NFL, but he has a ton of confidence in the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner. Speaking on the “Bussin’ with the Boys” podcast, Kelce laid it out straight.
“Travis Hunter, man, guy is really good. Hell yeah, world-class athlete. See, that’s the thing, I don’t know how they’re going to divvy it out because teams are going to be going after him.”
He continued, “They’re going to try and make his day miserable. If he plays corner, they’re going to run deep balls at him all day just to try and get him tired. Why wouldn’t you just attack him that way? I saw him play basketball and I was like Oh yeah, he’s an athlete.”
Three of the Chiefs’ first five games will be on primetime, with a Monday Night Football matchup against the Jaguars on Oct. 6. Hunter and the Jags will have four weeks to figure out the best plan for him in the league as Kelce and crew head to Jacksonville in Week 5.
Looking at each team’s schedule, it’s possible that both teams could be 2-2 going into the Jaguars’ only night game of the season.
Hunter is listed on both the offensive and defensive depth charts. The Jaguars drafted Hunter No. 2 overall for a reason, as they have faith that the 22-year-old can remain on the field for most of the game.
His numbers for Colorado speak for themselves, and there’s still a chance that Hunter could match up against Kelce.
Kelce is coming off a down season, one in which he had a career-low three touchdowns. His role with the team has shifted as he enters his age-36 season, but he remains a vital part of the Chiefs’ offense.
He may no longer finish the season with 1,000+ receiving yards like he did from 2016-22, but Patrick Mahomes knows what he has in Kelce as the Chiefs look to make yet another run at the Super Bowl.
