Travis Kelce Makes Bold Claim Ahead of NFL Schedule Release — ‘MNF Has Best Desk in Football’

Travis Kelce makes a bold claim following brother Jason's announcement that he is joining Monday Night Countdown.

Jason Kelce has long been an excellent football player, but it wasn’t until the last couple of seasons that the NFL got a chance to see his personality shine. Kelce has seen his stardom grow and has quickly transformed into an off-the-field star.

With his playing days now behind him, it has long been felt that Kelce wouldn’t be going too far away from the game of football. That came true with his recent move to join ESPN for their Monday Night Football coverage.

Jason Kelce Joining ESPN’s ‘Monday Night Countdown’

On the latest episode of New Heights, Jason and brother Travis got a chance to announce, and discuss the now-official move that Jason was joining the team over at ESPN for their NFL coverage.

“Alright Jason, you are officially signing with ESPN,” Travis starts before Jason confirms by saying “It is official.”

“The big thing is ‘Monday Night Countdown’, that’s the main part of the deal,” Jason continues. “We got some other things in the works potentially, but that’s the most important thing that we’ve really tried to iron out.”

“I’m a little biased but I think you guys have the best desk in football right now, dude. That’s a hell of a f—— lineup right there,” Travis proclaims.

With Kelce now officially part of the “Monday Night Countdown” crew, it’s an excellent move for both parties involved. For ESPN they get a future Hall of Fame player who is well-respected and brings fresh off-the-field knowledge to the desk, with an infectious personality as well.

For Kelce, it’s a chance for him to have a smooth transition as he pivots away from his playing days while allowing him to stay around the game he knows and loves.

No one has seen their stardom rise faster than Kelce over the last couple of years, in part due to the connection between him and his brother as they both conquer the NFL. However, most of it is probably due to Kelce allowing the outside world to get a peak behind the curtain of the person he is, and the people of the NFL world gravitating to the man that he is.

Who Are the Members of ‘Monday Night Countdown’ Crew for the 2024 NFL Season?

As Travis mentioned, his brother is joining a stacked cast for his new gig.

Alongside Jason will be veteran ESPN presence Scott Van Pelt leading the charge, as well as former players Ryan Clark and Marcus Spears, NFL Insider Adam Schefter, and reporter Michelle Beisner-Buck to round out the impressive group.

Clark and Spears have each been at ESPN for a long time since they have retired from the NFL. They were part of ESPN’s newly revamped “Monday Night Countdown” show last season and appear to be mainstays in their pregame, in-game, and postgame analysis.

Kelce will be the third ex-player on the panel and will be able to provide a unique perspective as a former offensive lineman who was in the middle of the action for every snap just last season.

Kelce replaces former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III on the Monday Night Football studio show. Griffin remains an ESPN employee, however, but he will no longer be part of the network’s coverage of their weekly NFL game.

ESPN knew Kelce’s star potential he could bring to a network, and despite many other suitors, he chose them for the next chapter in his football career, setting up what should be a good pairing for years to come.
