Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has plans in place after the 2024 season folds. The Buffaloes, led by star quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter, have already exceeded everyone’s expectations under their second-year coach and have their sights on the Big 12 Championship Game.
Their impressive season has them riding a four-game winning streak, on top of being 8-2 on the season and 6-1 in conference play. If Colorado wins its remaining two games, not only will the Buffaloes be playing in the Big 12 title game, but they’ll also be under consideration to make the newly introduced 12-team College Football Playoff.
Deion Sanders Reveals Offseason Plans Besides NFL-Bound Travis Hunter
The upcoming offseason will be an emotional one for Deion Sanders. His key players, including sons Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, along with top Heisman candidate Hunter, will leave Colorado to enter the 2025 NFL Draft. To give perfect farewell to his students, Coach Prime has a special bus trip in place where they’ll stop by every lake they pass.
“I got a perfect trip after the season. We’re going to start in Texas. We’re going to hook the boat up to the back of the big truck,” Deion said.
Hunter, who was standing beside him in the video, said:
“You sleep at the back.”
Deion continued:
“We’re going to go through Texas, and y’all are going to be on the bus. We’ll have a whole video team on the bus behind us, and we’re going to go through Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, and we’re going to use social media. We’ll stop at every good private lake on the way and then head through Florida. So, we’re going to have like five good days of straight fishing.”
“I mean, you can’t do anything, boy. This is what I mean. Don’t bring that BBL with you either,” Hunter added.

Sanders Speaks Against Those Criticizing Hunter’s Defense
Hunter, the current odds-on favorite to win this year’s Heisman Trophy, has upheld his game on both sides of the field. As a wide receiver, he has caught 74 receptions for 911 yards and nine touchdowns. Last week, he added a rushing touchdown to his already impressive offensive stats.
As a cornerback on defense, Hunter has recorded 23 tackles, which some believe aren’t as good. Deion, however, clarified not to look at the stat sheet.
“First of all, if a cornerback has eight tackles in the game, do you guys know what that means?” Sanders asked.
“That means they caught six balls. That’s what it means. They caught six balls on him because two of those [tackles] were probably run support. So when you see a corner with a lot of tackles, it’s not a good sign. If you see a corner with a lot of tackles, they caught a lot of balls on him.”

Per Sanders, to get an idea of how Hunter impacts the defensive side, one must watch the game rather than make judgments solely based on the stat sheet.
