The greatest player in NFL history was taking in football action of a different variety. Over the weekend, Tom Brady decided to cross the ocean and go to London to catch his team, Birmingham City, trying to capture their second title of the year.
However, it was heartbreak that ensued as Brady descended in Wembley. His team lost the match in a convincing fashion, but it wasn’t nature, more so the result itself that shocked the fanbase.

Tom Brady in Attendance for Birmingham City Heartbreak
The team Brady has a minority ownership stake in was coming off of an incredible season. At the end of the year, they won the English Football League One championship and led by 13 points over second-place Wrexham.
It seemed like they would make it double when they crossed paths with Peterborough for the Vertu Trophy, especially after they finished 16th in the AFL League One standings, with less than half the points that BCFC accumulated.
It was a rallying and inspiring victory for the underdogs, especially with one of the greatest sportspeople of all time in attendance. Earlier in the day, the seven-time Super Bowl champion shared a picture on his Instagram from outside the iconic Wembley Stadium, with a sea of Birmingham blue around him.
However, even his presence wasn’t enough to derail the heart of Peterborough. Early in the first half, a sublime free-kick from Harley Mills in the 15th minute put them in the scoring column. But BCFC’s plight wasn’t over just yet.
Before the period was over, they had doubled down, thanks to a rocket from captain Hector Kyprianou. The tale of the tape was overwhelmingly in favor of the favorites. They led the game in time of possession (76%), passes (595), pass accuracy (84%), and even corners with nine.
However, they fell short in one key column: the final score. Despite their overwhelming advantage and overall domination of the game, the two belters from Mills and Kyprianou were the difference in the game.

This isn’t the last time Brady will get a chance to cheer a team he has an ownership stake in, though. Last year, he officially took over the Las Vegas Raiders, and this offseason has been a clear indicator of a shift in the paradigm.
Rather than preaching patience, the Raiders have gone all out in the summer, bringing in Pete Carroll as their new head coach and a blockbuster trade for Geno Smith, followed by an extension for the quarterback, to stabilize the position.
After years of mediocrity, Brady is hard-pressed to turn the fortunes around in Las Vegas. Let’s just hope it doesn’t lead to another heartbreaking result for the greatest QB the world has ever seen.
