What to expect from tonight’s 49ers vs. Titans game?

It was a rough second half at Heinz Field for the Titans in Week 15. After 13 points and heading to the locker room with a 13-3 lead, Tennessee would watch as the Steelers slowly took this game back.

Turnovers, confusion, and general mistakes plagued the Titans amidst another second-half comeback by the Steelers. While the offense was abysmal with 3 second-half turnovers (a pair coming in the fourth), Tennessee should get a break tonight in Thursday Night Football.

Key contributors return to the Titans’ offense

After a month-long stint on injured reserve, Tennessee expects to have WR A.J. Brown return to the lineup. Fellow receiver WR Julio Jones is currently day-to-day after reinjuring his hamstring earlier this season. Titans head coach Mike Vrabel said Jones would be a game-time decision.

LT Taylor Lewan is still struggling with his back injury. However, he is currently questionable tonight for Thursday Night Football. Getting some of these players back is paramount for QB Ryan Tannehill and an offense lacking any spark whatsoever in the second half of Week 15.

Brown and Jones need to provide the offense with the production lost due to RB Derrick Henry’s injury. They are the leaders of this WR group, and it is time for them to step up when it matters most.

The defense is continuing to make plays. However, your defense can only do so much when you give up 3 turnovers in your territory. A full 60 minutes from the Titans’ offense can help Tennessee one step closer to the AFC South crown.

Will the 49ers continue to chase the Rams tonight in Thursday Night Football?

San Francisco has rolled up their sleeves and done some dirty work to create a slight cushion in the crowded NFC Wild Card race. The power-run scheme is excelling, and the defense has figured things out. QB Jimmy Garoppolo is playing smart and efficient football, and the playoffs seem within reach. While the 49ers have won five of their last six, the quality of their opponent is all over the place.

A win on Thursday Night Football over the Titans tonight would show San Francisco is here and ready to do business in the postseason. Say what you want about Tennessee’s offensive struggles at the moment, but the defensive front is wreaking havoc. Garoppolo’s main priority is taking care of the football. I’m going with the safe pick here.

The Titans’ offense will still struggle without Henry, despite RB D’Onta Foreman’s best efforts. The 49ers’ defense should get their hands on a couple of turnovers to flip this game in their favor. San Francisco grabs the win in hopes of a Rams loss on Sunday.
