What to expect from tonight’s Ravens vs. Dolphins game?

The preseason playoff hopes for Miami look bleak at this point, but there has been some improvement compared to the lashings the team was taking in the early part of the season. However, while the Ravens have gotten banged up, Jackson is putting together another incredible season.

He is seemingly willing Baltimore to the playoffs through his performance week after week. Will Miami’s defense be able to put enough pieces together, or are they doomed for another hosing?

    Will the Dolphins’ woes continue?

Recent history heavily favors one side of tonight’s Thursday Night Football matchup. The last time Miami defeated Baltimore was in 2015. In the three games since then, the Ravens have outscored the Dolphins 137-16. Furthermore, with Jackson under center, the Ravens scored 40 and 59 points in 2017 and 2019, respectively.

The Ravens’ offense has scored 30+ points in four of eight games this season. Meanwhile, the Dolphins’ defense has surrendered 26.9 points per game and given up 30+ points in four games this season. What’s worrisome for Miami is that they have scored 20+ points in just three games so far.

Things are a mess in South Florida, and it seems no one is planning on cleaning anything up as far as the coaches and front office are concerned. QB Tua Tagovailoa is a game-time decision with a broken middle finger on his left hand.

Despite saying he’s good to go, the team has decided to remain cautious, benching the QB in Week 9 and leaving his status for Week 10 unknown. Who starts under center for Miami drastically changes the possible outcome of Thursday Night Football tonight. If the Dolphins stand any chance at winning, it starts with having Tua under center.

Ravens keep marching forward tonight in Thursday Night Football

It looked like the Ravens were cooked, then Jackson came storming back against the Vikings. With six wins in hand, the Ravens sit atop the AFC North and look to be in the best shape despite an incredible amount of injuries. Hiccups are expected from contenders now and then, and the Week 9 tilt against the Bengals looks to be a one-off occurrence.

Baltimore can keep things rolling tonight in Thursday Night Football. One identifier of a good NFL team is the ability to beat bad teams. Both teams the Ravens have lost to this season — the Bengals and the Raiders — have records above .500. Meanwhile, the Dolphins score a measly 17.2 points per game.

If QB Jacoby Brissett starts under center for the Dolphins, things might get ugly. But if the team feels Tua is healthy enough to go against Baltimore, Miami’s offense might have a chance to keep up. Baltimore continues the trend of recent history with a victory tonight, but this Thursday Night Football matchup is a bit closer than the recent blowouts.
