Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill missed the playoffs for the first time in his nine-year career in 2024. The five-time first-team All-Pro failed to surpass 1,000 yards last season, and his frustration boiled over in a postgame media session after Miami’s final game.
Terron Armstead let Hill know he was out of line, and the retired offensive tackle shared his message on a recent “Up & Adams”.

Terron Armstead Said Tyreek Hill’s End-of-Season Outburst ‘Shouldn’t Exist’
The Dolphins finished 8-9 last season, missing the playoffs after nearly winning the AFC East the year before. Miami was set to dethrone the Buffalo Bills in 2024, but quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a scary head injury in Week 2, and the team couldn’t recover.
Miami made a huge trade in the 2022 offseason, acquiring Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs for multiple picks in that year’s draft. They then signed the receiver to a four-year, $120 million extension, making him the league’s highest-paid receiver.
Hill was tailor-made for head coach Mike McDaniel’s offense, eclipsing 110 receptions and 1,700 yards each of his first two seasons in Miami. 2023 was exceptional, as Hill posted 119 receptions, 1,799 yards, and 13 touchdowns. His yardage and touchdown totals led the league, and he was named first-team All-Pro for the fifth time.
The wheels came off of the Dolphins’ offense in 2024 once Tagovailoa went down, and Hill struggled the entire season. He went over 100 yards just three times and scored only six touchdowns. He totaled 81 receptions and 959 yards, missing the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career.
After the team’s final game, Hill told reporters, “I’m out,” when asked about his future in Miami. This did not sit well with the team’s veterans, and Armstead let the receiver hear about it.
Tyreek Hill's former teammate, Terron Armstead, believes Tyreek will stay in Miami.

Kay Adams asked the five-time Pro Bowler if he believed Hill mended the fences he needed to after the outburst, Armstead responded, “I believe so. I believe he sticks in Miami, and I’m sure he’s started that process and put the work in to rebuild the trust of his teammates, the organization, and the city.
“Very, very, very bad situation at the end of the season, and Tyreek knew that immediately.” Armstead continued, “We talked on the bus right after the game, and I was completely honest with him, like brutally honest with him. Can’t happen from a leader, someone that’s a figure in this league. It can’t happen. It shouldn’t exist; we shouldn’t even be having this conversation.
“The work that he has to do in order to mend those fences, and he has to show and prove over and over again. He’s all the way bought in, and he’s willing to do whatever is necessary to help his team win.”
Hill took full accountability for his outburst after the fact, and the team seems comfortable with keeping him around. Adams then asked if Armstead thought Hill staying in Miami was good for the Dolphins.
He responded, “It’s not for me to say. That’s between Tyreek Hill and the Miami Dolphins. He’s an incredible player. He’s an incredible talent and person, too. I love the guy to death, he’s my brother. It’s not for me to come up here and campaign for him. It’s his work. That’s a one-man show. It has to be done, and he knows that at this point.”
Armstead recently retired after a 12-year career. He showed his leadership qualities by confronting Hill. Hopefully, the receiver learned some things after their conversation.
