Novak Djokovic seems in good spirits at the Geneva Open, despite a title drought and recent setbacks. He’s building momentum after an early exit in Madrid and skipping Rome, with the added boost of having his family members, including parents, Srdjan and Dijana Djokovic, and wife Jelena, in the stands ahead of the French Open.
The 2025 season has fallen short of expectations for Djokovic, with poor form and injuries playing a significant role. Since his semifinal exit at the Australian Open, his best result has been a runner-up finish in Miami, but he’s struggled to carry that momentum into the clay-court swing, with second-round exits in Monte Carlo and Madrid.
Novak Djokovic’s Steady Progress in Geneva Fueled by Family Presence
Nonetheless, Djokovic mounted a strong comeback in Geneva, with the presence of his family providing a meaningful boost. Ahead of the ATP 250 event, the Serb revealed that one reason he chose to play in Geneva was the birth of his cousin’s baby, whom he was excited to meet for the first time. He then added:
“I am gonna actually have my wife and kids come tomorrow as well, and my parents are here, so it’s gonna be like a family affair at the stadium tomorrow. We’re still negotiating with the organizers to take half of the stadium for my family for the match.”
The 24-time Major champion went on to reach the semifinals of the 2025 Geneva Open with a commanding 6-2, 6-3 win over Marton Fucsovics, followed by a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Matteo Arnaldi, avenging his Madrid Open loss. The triumph became even more special with his family members, including his father Srdjan, mother Dijana, and wife Jelena, cheering him on from Centre Court.

Djokovic Will Face Cameron Norrie in the Geneva Open SF
Djokovic has advanced into the Geneva Open semifinals, where he will face Britain’s Cameron Norrie. The 29-year-old started the tournament as a qualifier and defeated Ergi Kirkin and Jenson Brooksby to enter the main draw.
Norrie then defeated Dominic Stricker, Tomas Machac before overcoming Australia’s Alexei Popyrin to fix an encounter against the Serb in the last four. Friday’s match will also be the fifth overall between Djokovic and Norrie, with the former having a comfortable 4-0 lead in their head-to-head.
