Mirra Andreeva vs Marta Kostyuk Preview: Head-to-Head, Prediction for Brisbane International 2026

Sixth seed Mirra Andreeva will face a tough opponent in 16th seed Martha Kostyuk for a place in the Brisbane International semifinals.

Sixth seed Mirra Andreeva will face 16th seed Marta Kostyuk in the quarterfinals of the Brisbane International, with the winner facing either fourth seed Jessica Pegula or 10th seed Liudmila Samsonova in the semifinals of the WTA 500 event.

Andreeva hasn’t had it easy so far in Brisbane, with both of her matches going to three sets. The Russian teenager received a bye to the second round of the tournament and here, she came back from a set down to beat Olivia Gadecki 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Andreeva then faced ninth seed Linda Nosková in the third round and just like her previous match, was a set down. However, she bounced back and took the second set 6-4 to force the match into a decider. The Russian edged out her Czech counterpart in the final set to bag a 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 win and seal her spot in the quarterfinals.

Kostyuk also received a walkover to the second round and lost the first set to Yulia Putintseva before dominating the next two sets to win 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-0. The Ukrainian then faced second seed Amanda Anisimova and produced one of the upsets of the tournament by defeating the American 6-4, 6-3 and book her place in the quarterfinals.

Andreeva vs. Kostyuk Prediction

Andreeva is ranked 17 spots above Kostyuk but the Ukrainian will be high on confidence after defeating Anisimova. Combine this with Kostyuk’s quality, and we could have an intense match on our hands.

Andreeva has won 85 out of 116 points (73.2%) on her first serve so far in Brisbane, serving 13 aces and 10 double faults. The Russian has a lot of power in her shots and is a solid counterpuncher who can switch quickly. Her versatility and variety will come in very handy.

Kostyuk’s first-serve numbers so far at the WTA 500 event is slightly better compated to those of Andreeva’s, as she won 67 out of 90 points (74.4%), amassing ten aces and five double faults. The Ukrainian loves to play aggressive and will look to put pressure on her Russian counterpart from the start.

While Kostyuk is not to be written off, Andreeva’s quality might just be enough to see her get the win and reach the semifinals of the Brisbane International.
