Elite WTA players Jessica Pegula, Madison Keys, and Jennifer Brady have recently shared their heartfelt reactions to Desirae Krawczyk’s fertility protection journey. The World No. 36, Krawczyk, was last seen in action at the 2025 Japan Open, where she competed in the women’s doubles with Australian player Storm Hunter, facing defeat from Taylor Townsend and Ellen Perez in the round of 16.
Madison Keys, Jessica Pegula, Jennifer Brady React to Desirae Krawczyk’s Fertility Protection Process
The Women’s Tennis Association had earlier announced a new Fertility Protection Special Entry Ranking Rule, through which players undergoing procedures, including egg or embryo freezing, will be able to return to competition with their protected rankings. The WTA offers a Family Focus Program to support families on the tour, as well as paid maternity leave and fertility protection treatments through the PIF WTA Maternity Fund Program.
Through their episode on “The Player’s Box Podcast,” the notable women’s doubles player, Desirae Krawczyk, revealed her ongoing fertility protection procedure and how her decision was made possible with the WTA’s funding.
She shared, ” I’m doing my egg freezing these next couple weeks and I’m a little nervous. It’s 10 days worth of shots. Yesterday I did my trigger shot so then I’ll have to wait a week to see how my body’s reacting to that and then I’ll start doing a 10-day shot series and do my egg retrieval which I think is about a 15-minute procedure so it’s not long.”
While praising the WTA’s support and noting her friends are also preserving fertility, she continued, “The WTA, they came out with the funding, which is great because obviously with playing you have to take off time and off-season is not that long so a lot of players are doing the egg freezing and it’s amazing that WTA has that funding. It’s nice to have a couple of friends going through it at the same time.”
