Coco Gauff Speaks About Facing Mirra Andreeva at the Italian Open QF

This year, both Gauff and Andreeva are seeded players at the Italian Open. They began their campaigns in the second round after receiving first-round byes. The former World No. 2 advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating qualifier Victoria Mboko, 32nd seed Magda Linette, and Emma Raducanu.

Meanwhile, Andreeva secured her spot in the last eight by overcoming qualifier Emiliana Arango, 30th seed Linda Nosková, and 22nd seed Clara Tauson.

While speaking to Tennis Channel’s Prakash Amritraj, Gauff shared her thoughts on facing Andreeva again so soon. She expressed that she finds it “hard” to compete against someone she has recently played, mentioning that both players have limited time to adjust their strategies. Gauff referred to their match just a week prior at the Madrid Open.

“Yeah, Mirra and I played last week, and I always find it hard to play someone that you played not too long ago because not much either of us can change in a week,” Coco Gauff said.

Gauff also stated that Andreeva is a “tough” opponent to play against, and it is always a “tough matchup.”

But yeah, so that would be obviously a tough matchup. And she’s always tough to play honestly,” she added.
