Coco Gauff’s Ex-Coach Brad Gilbert Reacts to Americans’ Achievement at French Open 2025

This year, Coco Gauff is seeded second at the French Open and she began her run at the tournament with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win over Olivia Gadecki in the first round. Other American players, including Jessica Pegula, Tommy Paul, Madison Keys, Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton, Sofia Kenin, Sebastian Korda, and Amanda Anisimova, also advanced to the second round.

This marks the first time in over three decades that 22 Americans have reached the second round at Roland Garros.

In light of this achievement, Gauff’s ex-coach Brad Gilbert took to social media to express his excitement by sharing several emojis.

“😎💪👍 🇺🇸,” Gilbert posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

 Unseeded American players like Danielle Collins, Jenson Brooksby, Caroline Dolehide, Reilly Opelka, and Hailey Baptiste have all moved to the second round of the 2025 French Open.

Coco Gauff Set To Face Tereza Valentová in the Second Round of the 2025 French Open

In the lead-up to the 2025 French Open, Coco Gauff competed at the Madrid Open and the Italian Open. She reached the finals of each tournament, finishing as the runner-up after losing to Aryna Sabalenka in Madrid and Jasmine Paolini in Rome.

After winning over Olivia Gadecki in the first round of the 2025 French Open, Gauff is scheduled to face Czech qualifier Tereza Valentová in the second round.

Valentová secured her place in the main draw of this clay court Major after winning her match in the qualifying rounds. She triumphed over Arina Rodionova with a dominant score of 6-2, 6-2, followed by a win against Dalma Gálfi, 6-4, 6-1, and finally overcoming Simona Waltert with a score of 6-2, 6-4 to secure her place in the main draw.

Tereza Valentová faced wild card entry Chloé Paquet in the first round match of the 2025 French Open and registered a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win to earn her spot in the second round against Gauff.

The first round match will mark the first encounter between Gauff and Valentová on the WTA Tour, and the winner of the match will advance to the third round, where they will compete against either Marie Bouzkova or Sonay Kartal.
