One of the first-round matches at the 2025 Hellenic Championships will feature fifth-seeded Alexandre Müller taking on German qualifier Jan-Lennard Struff. Müller’s season in 2025 has not been particularly successful, as the French player has not advanced past the second round in 20 of the events he has played this year. He has reached two finals this year, winning the Hong Kong Open, where he defeated Kei Nishikori, and also in Rio, where he lost to Sebastian Baez in the final.
Struff has played quite a bit of Challenger tennis this season but hasn’t advanced past the early rounds at any of the events. On the main tour, his best results have been quarterfinal finishes in Marseille, Kitzbuhel, and Almaty. At the Hellenic Championships, he won 7-6 (1), 7-5 against Mark Lajal and 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 against Henry Bernet in the qualifying rounds to get into the main draw.

Meanwhile, Struff has had some success on indoor courts this year, reaching the quarterfinals in Marseille and Almaty and now qualifying for the main draw in Athens.
Struff will go in as the slight favorite in the match, as he has shown better form on indoor hard courts this year and has a successful track record on the surface, albeit on the Challenger Tour.
