CINCINNATI — Speaking at his weekly news conference prior to today’s practice, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor didn’t want to divulge whether wide receiver Tee Higgins would participate.
The answer came 30 minutes later. Higgins was at practice but not practicing.
Will Bengals Tee Higgins Play Sunday vs. Chiefs?
Higgins was one of six players working with director of rehab Nick Cosgray on the side field, going through conditioning drills and testing the hamstring that forced him out of practice Thursday and onto the inactive list for last Sunday’s season opener against the New England Patriots.
“We’ll just let you see the injury report when (practice) is over,” Taylor said when asked if Higgins would practice.
“But he’s making good progress.”

When asked if its the same hamstring he injured last year, Taylor said he wasn’t sure because Higgins injured both of them and wasn’t sure which was first.
Higgins missed Weeks 9-11 last year with a right hamstring injury. He injured his left hamstring in a Week 17 loss at Kansas City on New Year’s Eve. Higgins tried to come back into the game but couldn’t finish, and he sat out the meaningless season finale against the Cleveland Browns.
If Higgins can work his way back into practice Thursday and/or Friday, he could have a chance of playing against the Chiefs, giving what was a stagnant offense in the season opener a boost.
But the nature of hamstrings is tricky, and the chance for re-aggravation is strong with any soft-tissue injury. So the Bengals will continue to take things day to day, and it could end up coming down to a game-time decision.
This is the sixth time Higgins has been on the injury report with a hamstring issue in four seasons and one week with the Bengals. He’s missed four games and left three others early due to hamstring injuries.
