Taylor Swift is now tangled up in the growing legal battle between actress Blake Lively and actor-director Justin Baldoni. The pop star — also known as the girlfriend of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce — has been subpoenaed in a dispute tied to the movie It Ends With Us.

Swift received the subpoena from Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s lawyer, designating her as a possible witness in the controversial case, according to people with firsthand knowledge who spoke to TMZ. Swift’s team has strongly objected to the move, arguing that her involvement in the film was minimal and does not justify a legal summons.
A spokesperson for Swift firmly denied any significant connection to the project. “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”
The rep added that Swift’s only contribution to the film was allowing the use of her song My Tears Ricochet. “The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, My Tears Ricochet. Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”
However, Baldoni reportedly insists Swift’s role was greater than just licensing music. He claims she supported his casting decision for Isabela Ferrer as young Lily Bloom. Additionally, Baldoni points to a heated meeting in Blake Lively’s New York City penthouse, where she allegedly ambushed him with a rewritten scene. According to Baldoni, Blake’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, and Swift were present at the meeting. Following the confrontation, Blake texted Baldoni, referring to herself as Khaleesi from Game of Thrones, with Swift and Reynolds as her protective “dragons.”
The legal drama also affects Swift’s partner, NFL tight end Travis Kelce. Reports suggest the Chiefs’ star may be distancing himself from Reynolds, once a friendly figure, due to the escalating situation. Until now, Swift and Kelce had enjoyed a low-profile offseason following the Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss. But as this legal saga intensifies, their privacy and calm may be short-lived, with Swift potentially heading into the courtroom spotlight.
