After a rookie season marred by injuries, Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell appears ready to put up even bigger numbers in Year 2.
But the Texans appear to be very deep at the wide receiver position heading into 2024. How much Dell will be hurt by so many quality receivers around him is a legitimate question for fantasy football managers to consider.
Here is the fantasy outlook for Dell this season.
Tank Dell’s Fantasy Profile for the 2024 NFL Season
Short in stature (5’10”, 165 pounds), Dell was big in production in his 2023 rookie season. His impact in Houston began almost immediately.
By Week 2, Dell was getting 10 targets and scoring his first NFL touchdown. By Week 3, he had his first 100-yard receiving game, and when it was all said and done, he had seven touchdown receptions in his first 10 games.
Then came the broken leg suffered early in Houston’s win over the Denver Broncos in Week 13. Just like that, an impressive rookie season was over.
But over the first 10 games of his season, Dell was a rock-solid performer, with nearly five receptions per game (4.7) and over 70 receiving yards per game.

His numbers, extrapolated to a 17-game season, come to 80 receptions, 1,205 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns.
He proved to be a solid deep threat as well, averaging 15.1 yards per reception. Of his seven touchdown catches, four were from 20+ yards, including two touchdown receptions of at least 40 yards. His 9.5 receiving yards per target also suggests that Dell was effective at getting open frequently.
Although his catch percentage (62.7%) wasn’t a problem, there is also room for improvement.
Is Dell a Good Fantasy Pick?
Dell is the WR29 in Pro Football Network’s Consensus Fantasy Football Rankings as of Aug. 15. He is one of three Texans wide receivers to rank in the top 30, along with Nico Collins (WR16) and former Buffalo Bills receiver Stefon Diggs (WR27).
While Dell ranks third in this quality group of receivers, he might be the one fantasy managers should try and add to their roster. Dell and Stroud, both entering their second season, worked well together as rookies in 2023. Managers can count on that chemistry.

It’s understandable to question just how healthy Dell will be and how much attention he will receive from Stroud with so many quality targets around him. However, if you believed Dell was a solid receiver before his injury, there’s no reason to think he will not improve his game in Year 2.
A fifth-round pick on Dell may be a bit early, but there’s reason to buy the upside on this offense. He should be given serious consideration by fantasy managers once round four begins and receivers start flying off the board.
