Jalen Ramsey has been one of the most popular names in trade rumors this offseason. Since the 2024 season came to a close, the Miami Dolphins have openly theorized about wanting to potentially move their star corner for the right price.
With multiple teams in the running to acquire a quality defender who made the Pro Bowl just a year ago, it is ultimately going to come down to the right package. However, one analyst believes a contender in the AFC should double down on its defensive resurgence and bring Ramsey on board.
Should Jalen Ramsey Return to the West Coast?
A seven-time Pro Bowler with a long history of consistent production to his name, Ramsey was part of the Super Bowl 56-winning squad with the Los Angeles Rams. Beginning in 2017, he made it to seven consecutive Pro Bowls, including three All-Pro years in 2017, 2020, and 2021.
Over stints with the Rams and the Dolphins, after being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars, he has proven himself to be one of the most reliable names in the secondary. But Miami is willing to listen to offers, even if players on the team like Tyreek Hill don’t want Ramsey to depart.
Two teams that make sense for Jalen Ramsey are both in Los Angeles: the Chargers and the Rams ⬇️@AdamSchefter | @ZipRecruiter pic.twitter.com/GPy2tM5DNq

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, his preferred choice would be on the West Coast, with either the Los Angeles Chargers or in a reunion with the Rams. Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports agrees that a West Coast location might suit him better.
In his list of summer trade proposals, he explained, “The Chargers were reportedly close to swinging a major deal for Metcalf earlier this offseason, so they could be even more primed to part with real draft capital, this time to shore up the back end of Jesse Minter’s defense.”
With over $25 million available in cap space, the move would make sense for a team that was the best scoring defense in the league last year and also ranked fourth on PFSN’s Defense+ metric. However, Benjamin also sees what the holdup could be about.
“It’s clear someone in the Ramsey trade sweepstakes is being stingy, be it Ramsey or the Dolphins or potential suitors, probably because of the financial toll attached to an aging, though accomplished, cover man.”
With the Chargers angling towards a more team-friendly deal, it could open the door for their neighbors to make a bolder offer to bring Ramsey back into the mix. And for a team that was highly inconsistent from week to week, Ramsey would be the perfect safety valve.
