The Tennessee Titans are in the enviable spot of holding the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. With glaring holes on both sides of the ball, they have a golden chance to reshape the roster entirely.
While the defense could use a boost, it’s becoming clear that fixing the offense has to be the top priority — especially after nearly two full seasons of Will Levis under center. One former Super Bowl champion thinks he knows exactly who the Titans should take, and it’s a quarterback he believes will make everyone around him better.

Cam Ward Called ‘Day One Starter’ as Titans Eye No. 1 Pick
Tennessee was one of just three teams to win only three games last season. Their defense struggled, but the offense was even worse, finishing 27th in PFSN’s Offense+ metric.
Tony Pollard’s strong season helped steady the run game, but the rest of the unit was a mess. Levis, who finished 34th in PFSN’s QB+ metric, couldn’t generate enough consistency to lift the offense.
Now, holding the top pick, former Packers wide receiver James Jones believes Cam Ward should be the guy. Jones says Ward is ready to start from Day One and has the traits to elevate the offense.
“I do think the gap is close, but I think Cam Ward is more ready to play right now. I think, walking in day one, Cam Ward is ready to be the starter for the Tennessee Titans,” Jones said on The Facility. “Plays with anticipation, throws his receivers open. When I watch him play the football game, he makes everybody around him better. This is what the Titans need.”

There’s a reason for the hype. Ward started his college career as a zero-star recruit and has worked his way into the No. 1 overall pick conversation — a massive leap.
He played at Incarnate Word, then Washington State, and most recently transferred to Miami. Aside from his first season at Washington State, Ward improved every year. In his final college season, he threw for 4,313 yards with a 67.2% completion rate, 39 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions. He also added four rushing scores with his mobility.
In PFSN’s latest seven-round NFL Mock Draft, the Titans take Ward with the No. 1 pick — right in line with Jones’ suggestion.
Tennessee needs a franchise quarterback, and Ward looks like the best shot in this draft class. He’s a creative playmaker with the instincts to turn broken plays into big ones — something the Titans have been missing in a big way.
