What to expect from 49ers vs. Rams
After slipping to 2-3 thanks to ugly performances against the hapless Philadelphia Eagles and struggling Dolphins, the 49ers will look to keep their season alive on Sunday night against the Rams, who appear to be cruising towards a playoff spot.
The Rams reinvented themselves this off-season. Thanks to a renewed focus on the ground game and heavy personnel, as well as a defense that features the seemingly unstoppable Aaron Donald and lockdown cornerback Jalen Ramsey, they are legitimate contenders in the NFC. Their only loss of the season so far came against the Buffalo Bills on the road, and it would have likely ended in a win if the officials didn’t call one of the worst pass interference calls of the young NFL season.
Meanwhile, the 49ers look to be experiencing the Super Bowl hangover that hit the Rams just a season ago, as they enter Sunday Night Football reeling at 2-3. Not only are they horribly beat up, but their quarterback and offensive line play have been dreadful recently, leading to their two-game losing streak. Over the past two games, three quarterbacks have taken the field for San Francisco, and have combined for 509 passing yards, two touchdowns, four interceptions, while being sacked 10 times. For the 49ers to salvage their season, those two position groups will have to improve their overall play.
Rams win 31-19
