While the 2025 NFL Draft quarterback class is largely headlined by Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, other signal-callers are generating buzz — including Kyle McCord of Syracuse, formerly of Ohio State.
Now, he’s set to visit some teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants.

Kyle McCord to Visit Steelers and Giants
According to Jordan Schultz, a FOX Sports NFL insider, McCord is visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers today and the New York Giants tomorrow.

In addition to reporting McCord’s visit, Schultz said, “McCord, who led the nation in passing last season, has acquitted himself well throughout the draft process with a series of good interviews and impressive on-the-board work.”
“Several teams I’ve spoken with say he’s one of the more undervalued players in the entire draft — highlighting his prototypical NFL size, winning pedigree (see 21-point comeback vs. Miami), and capacity to read coverage.”
McCord led the nation in passing, throwing for 4,779 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He completed 391 of 592 passes (66.0%).
In reference to Schultz’ comments, McCord measures 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds.
He’s had a decorated career dating back to high school, where he won three straight state championships and was named Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior. McCord was also a high school teammate of Marvin Harrison Jr., and the two went on to play together at Ohio State.
In 2023, during his lone season as the full-time starter at Ohio State, McCord completed 229 of 348 passes (65.8%) for 3,170 yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions. In the final game of the regular season, he threw two interceptions — including a costly one late — in a 30-24 loss to Michigan. The Wolverines later went on to win the national title.
The Steelers need a quarterback but are expected to sign Aaron Rodgers. If McCord does end up in Pittsburgh, he could sit behind Rodgers for a year, which might not be a bad thing.
The Giants are in a similar scenario with their signings of Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to one-year deals, so McCord would likely find himself sitting for at least one season there as well.
McCord Scouting Report and Mock Draft Projection
In Jacob Infante’s recent seven-round mock draft, he projects McCord to land with the Seattle Seahawks at No. 137 overall in the fourth round.
Back in February, Reese Decker of PFSN wrote up a scouting report for McCord.
He concluded it by saying:
“The Syracuse star is likely to be a product of the system he lands in. While he doesn’t possess overwhelming physical traits or a howitzer for an arm, he has the skills to thrive if placed in the right system. The Sean McVay–Kyle Shanahan offense would be a perfect match as it uses motion and RPOs to manufacture passing lanes and mismatches and utilizes the screen game as an extension of the run game.”
“McCord’s offense at Syracuse employed a similar approach. Not only did he have the best year of his collegiate career, but he also led the FBS in passing yards. He could be a savvy pickup for a team in need of a mid-round quarterback, but scheme fit will be vital for the success of both.”
While McCord is certainly not at the top of any quarterback-hungry team’s list, he could very well have a place in the league as a starting quarterback.
