Aaron Rodgers’ indecisiveness is the hottest topic in the NFL now that Russell Wilson is officially a New York Giant. Wilson and Rodgers were the two free agents with the most influence over the two teams in desperate need of a quarterback.
Wilson’s decision takes one of those options off the board, leaving Pittsburgh as the most likely destination for Rodgers. The Minnesota Vikings could also be a wild card, but right now, all eyes are on the Steelers. Steelers defensive captain Cam Heyward had a direct message for Rodgers.

Cam Heyward Clarifies Opinion on Aaron Rodgers as Russell Wilson’s Replacement
Heyward still thinks Rodgers is a “cool option” for the Steelers to consider.
“I think the options are dwindling down, but I think there’s a pretty cool option still in play,” the veteran defensive tackle said on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football.”
A week ago, Heyward stirred things up by joking about going to a darkness retreat to recruit Rodgers. That comment got a ton of attention, and Heyward used this latest interview to clear the air, saying people had misunderstood what he meant.
“It was misconstrued. From my point of view, I was asked a question — would you go to the lengths of going to a darkness retreat to recruit Aaron Rodgers? I said, ‘I’m not doing that.’ The pitch is, if you want to be a Steeler, be a Steeler,” Heyward said, referring to Rodgers’ famous Ayahuasca and darkness retreats that went viral online.
“That’s all it was. It wasn’t meant [as] I don’t like Aaron Rodgers. When I look at our team right now, it would be really cool to have a guy like Aaron Rodgers. But I can’t be the guy who gets it over the finish line. He’s gotta make those decisions for himself, but I’m excited to see what happens,” he continued.

Heyward sounds ready to welcome Rodgers — currently ranked No. 21 in PSFN’s QB+ metrics — with open arms. But a twist could leave the Steelers scrambling: Rodgers might retire.
There have been rumors Rodgers is considering retirement if he doesn’t land on the team he wants.
If Rodgers hangs it up, the Steelers may be forced to trade up in the 2025 NFL Draft for a quarterback. With the Giants locking in Wilson, they’re no longer a threat to take one of the top QBs like Shedeur Sanders. Other teams have shifted focus, leaving the Titans and Steelers as the main quarterback-needy squads.
The Titans are expected to target Cam Ward, which could leave Sanders available for Pittsburgh. But that depends on what Rodgers decides — and the clock’s ticking.
