The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a very confusing summer. After yet another playoff appearance, the team let both its starting quarterbacks walk, instead opting to wait on a 40-year-old Aaron Rodgers to make his decision, one which is still pending. After adding DK Metcalf in free agency, a potential quarterback was an option in the draft.
Instead, they opted to strengthen the rest of their roster. Now, after a trade parting ways with George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, the wide receiver room is relatively barren in Pittsburgh. However, one insider believes more moves are on the way for head coach Mike Tomlin.

Pittsburgh Steelers Still Building Wide Receiver Room After George Pickens Trade
Last year, no wide receiver crossed the 550-yard mark outside of Pickens for the Steelers. However, with the addition of Metcalf with a four-year extension worth $132 million, WR1 is a lock for the foreseeable future.
However, with Pickens no longer on the roster, that leaves the rest of the core in need of a revamp. And according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, some moves are going to happen in the coming days.
“I would be surprised if the Steelers are done at the receiver position. Likely to at least sign one more and there are a couple talented receivers still on the market.”

Already, rumors of a potential acquisition of an Aaron Rodgers favorite in Allen Lazard are making the rounds. With their connection continuing for both the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets, it is likely that the two come as a package deal.
Beyond that, however, the market might be a little thin. Taking a flyer on names like the recently released Gabe Davis is an option.
But, adding more veteran talent like Keenan Allen or Amari Cooper might also be on the board. Last season, the Steelers’ offense ranked among the bottom 10 in the league, per PFSN’s Offense+ metric.
An improvement in that regard is a necessity if Tomlin wants to break his nearly decade-long drought of a playoff win. The defense, thanks to his coaching excellence and talent like T.J. Watt, is going to be a force year in and year out.
But to find legitimate success post-Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh needs upgrades to its offensive weapons.
If Rodgers is the way forward as the man behind center, regardless of how impressive Will Howard has been to the coaching staff, then building the roster around veterans might be their safest bet.
