NFL insider Albert Breer has suggested that Arizona wide receiver prospect Tetairoa McMillan could slip in late April.
Widely regarded as the top pure wide receiver in the 2025 NFL Draft class, McMillan may not even be the first receiver taken on draft night, following Travis Hunter.

Tetairoa McMillan May Slide in 2025 NFL Draft
McMillan is one of a few players who became known to regular NFL fans during the 2024 season. While fans gradually become more aware of upcoming draft prospects as the event approaches, only a handful of players truly become household names before the NFL season is over.
In 2024, names like Travis Hunter, Ashton Jeanty, and Shedeur Sanders gained recognition from fans who had heard whispers from the college football world. But there was also talk of another player, one known as “T-Mac,” whose name began to pop up in NFL discussions.
So when the focus of the NFL community shifted toward the 2025 NFL Draft, it came as no surprise to see McMillan’s name atop most wide receiver rankings. While he’s not an explosive mover, his smooth route running and dominance at the catch point are immediately evident upon closer inspection.
Breer, though, in a recent article for Sports Illustrated, has suggested that the Arizona prospect may slide further than expected in the opening round of the NFL Draft.
Not only does Breer think that McMillan could fall, but he suggests that the player may even be overtaken by another receiver.
“I hate saying anyone is ‘rising’ or ‘falling’ on ‘draft boards’ because it doesn’t work that way. That said, when I sketched out a mock draft for myself this week, I had Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan going in the 20s. I’d say, again, that I wouldn’t be surprised if Texas’s Matthew Golden is the first (non-Hunter) receiver to go, and McMillan is there when the playoff teams are picking.”
Recent Seven-Round PFSN Mock Draft Agrees with Albert Breer
And it would appear that Breer isn’t alone in his thinking. While McMillan doesn’t quite make it into the 20s, he’s taken seven spots after Texas product Matthew Golden. Golden turned heads with his explosive 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine (4.29 seconds), which saw him shoot up rankings.
In the latest seven-round Mock Draft from PFSN’s Reese Decker, Golden is snapped up by the Dallas Cowboys at 12, while McMillan lands with the Seattle Seahawks at 19. The month leading up to the NFL Draft is prime speculation season. Players seem to move up and down rankings more during April than they did when they were playing.
It would be a surprise, after all of the hype, if McMillan was to be overtaken by another receiver on Draft night. But since there appears to be very little agreement on any of this year’s draft prospects, it’s safe to say that anything could happen.
