In Week 6, the Dallas Cowboys lost 47-9 to the Detroit Lions in their last game before their bye. Now, in Week 8, the Cowboys will square off against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football in what is in some ways a must-win game for them.
Dallas is 3-3 on the season but has a tough set of fixtures coming up. The 49ers have not been playing well, leading commentator Skip Bayless to believe that the Cowboys will avenge last season’s 42-10 loss.
Skip Bayless Is Confident About Cowboys Winning Against 49ers
Bayless posted a video on X following the 49ers’ 28-18 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last week. After seeing how San Francisco played against the defending Super Bowl champions, Bayless felt confident about the Cowboys’ chances of winning in Week 8.
“This isn’t even a jinx, more like a lock one week from right now, next Sunday night on Sunday Night Football, we will get revenge on the San Francisco 49ers at our house of horrors in Santa Clara because we’re coming off a bye,” said Bayless.
“We’re getting healthier; we’ll get Micah (Parsons) back while they are coming off, falling to 3-4, losing their big Super Bowl rematch, getting battered mentally and physically.
“They got injuries everywhere. There’s no (Christian) McCaffrey, no (Dre) Greenlaw, no (Brandon) Aiyuk. Next Sunday night, we will get revenge for 42-10 last season, on Sunday Night Football out in Santa Clara, and revenge for that playoff game we lost out there when we couldn’t even score more than 12 points… Dak (Prescott) will rise and shine, Micah will rise and shine, and we will beat the 49ers one week from right now.”

The Cowboys have lost the last three games against the 49ers, two of which came in the playoffs. Dallas failed to score more than 17 points in any of those matchups, and on Sunday, the pressure will be on the offense to deliver.
The 49ers are 3-4 on the season and, as Bayless said, will be without Brandon Aiyuk, Dre Greenlaw, and Christian McCaffrey. Moreover, San Francisco could also be without star safety Talanoa Hufanga for the rest of the season.
This is the Cowboys’ best chance of defeating the 49ers, and they must capitalize on it.
Cowboys Elevated Dalvin Cook to Active Roster
Ahead of their matchup against the 49ers, the Cowboys have elevated running back Dalvin Cook to the active roster. Amid the team’s struggles in running the ball, Cook will make his debut on Sunday.
The Cowboys are averaging just 77.2 rushing yards per game and 3.5 yards per carry. Dallas hopes that Cook can provide that spark to the offense, which Ezekiel Elliott and Rico Dowdle have failed to do so far.
Over the course of his career, Prescott has played well whenever he’s had a good running game around him. Dallas’ entire offense is struggling since the franchise failed to address that issue in the offseason.
Prescott signed a four-year, $240 million contract before the start of the season but has not yet played up to it. In six games this year, he has thrown for 1,602 yards, eight touchdowns, and six interceptions, completing 63.4% of his throws with a passer rating of 85.5.
