Shedeur Sanders has a busy month in store for him. Starting with the Colorado Buffaloes pro day, his preparation for the 2025 NFL Draft kicked into third gear, where he’s expected to be a first-round pick at the very least. However, even with the busy schedule, Sanders was in a philanthropic mood as the days to April 24 trickled down.
Making a surprise appearance at a high school league game near his hometown, Sanders was the star of the show in a special seven-a-side matchup. While it would have certainly been nice for one of the most scrutinized and polarizing draft prospects to get a day off, it also allowed Sanders to mentor athletes in the city in which he grew up.

Shedeur Sanders Turns Mentor at 7-on-7
Born to the legendary Deion Sanders and his ex-wife Pilar Sanders in Tyler, Texas, he has always had an NFL legend as a father and mentor. Right from the high school level, the two-time Super Bowl champion has been directly involved with his career in some capacity.
At Trinity High School, the former Dallas Cowboys superstar was the offensive coordinator before becoming the head coach for both Jackson State and Colorado, sharing a sideline with his son at both programs. Suffice it to say, the young Sanders knows and understands the value of a good mentor.
On a random Saturday in April, it was the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner who got the chance to play the role of mentor. Coming back from a visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Sanders met the AD 2Tenths 7on7 Organization.
Promising to attend their matchup, he dropped by Dallas to attend the OT7 as one of the associated members with the club captured. Clicking photos and speaking to the group, Sanders looked eerily similar to his father, one of the best mentors and coaches in college football currently.
“Shedeur Pulls Up To OT7 In Dallas To Support The AD 2 Tenths 7on7 Organization. He’s In Legendary Mode Showing Love & Support, While Inspiring Those Coming Up Next #Legendary (2 Met Them In The Airport Leaving Pitt & Told Them He’d Come Support Them. Safe To Say He Kept His Word),” the post says.
A fan page for the Buffaloes also caught the entire incident and posted a clip of the quarterback who changed their franchise’s trajectory dapping up the youngsters in Dallas.
When he joined the program, Colorado was coming off a one-win season. However, in 2024, just two years later, the team won nine games, employed the Heisman Trophy winner, and was ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation.
