Shedeur Sanders is one of the most hyped-up players for the 2025 NFL Draft class.
It remains to be seen where Deion Sanders’ son will get drafted, but former Colorado quarterback and current college football analyst Joel Klatt recently weighed in on where he thinks Sanders will land.
Former Colorado QB Joel Klatt Predicts Giants Move Up and Pick Shedeur Sanders in NFL Draft
Klatt released his first 2025 NFL mock draft and predicted that the New York Giants will trade up to No. 1 in a trade with the Tennessee Titans in order to secure the Colorado quarterback.
Klatt believes the Giants have a good relationship with Shedeur and even suggested that the interest is mutual.
“I believe that the Giants jump up to No. 1 — from three to one. The New York football Giants are in the No. 1 spot because they have a great relationship with Shedeur Sanders,” Klatt explained.
“They have vetted him several times, and I believe it is reciprocal. I think the Giants move up to No. 1 and take Shedeur Sanders with the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft.”
Joel also made his thoughts clear on the ongoing debate between Cam Ward and Shedeur, choosing Colorado’s star as the better quarterback.
“Here’s a little something about Shedeur: I think that if you really evaluate him as a quarterback, and you take the name off the back of the jersey [and] if you don’t look at who his head coach is, I think he’s a clear No. 1 quarterback…
“Shedeur has this beautiful combination of the ability to be a prototypical passer from the pocket, and he’s got the precise ability to be a surgeon in those cases.”
PFSN’s Feb. 11 mock draft by Owain Jones also projects that Sanders will get drafted by the Giants as the No. 3 overall pick and mentions their connection with the Colorado QB, while Ward went No. 1 to the Titans.
Here’s what Jones wrote in his mock draft blurb: “The Giants have seemingly developed a strong rapport with Shedeur Sanders after interviewing and spending time with him at the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl. The New York market appears to be a perfect fit for the Sanders brand, and the Giants are in desperate need of stability at the quarterback position.
“With jobs on the line, this pick must be a quarterback if one of Sanders or Ward is on the board. Sanders has the skill set to effectively run an NFL offense in his rookie season. His game-manager play style contributes to impressive accuracy, the ability to make full-field reads, solid decision-making, and above-average athleticism.”
Sanders is widely regarded as the most NFL-ready QB in the 2025 NFL Draft as well as the most accurate and reliable quarterback in this class. He actually holds the all-time FBS record for career completion percentage at 71.8%.
Sanders doesn’t have the athletic upside of others, but his movement is underrated, and he has the ability to operate full-field reads and manipulate the middle of the field. Despite playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in college football, the Buffaloes QB’s pocket navigation is extremely impressive, setting him up to potentially start as a rookie.
Arm strength and accuracy are two of the most distinct selling points on Sanders’ tape. He generates easy velocity and has a degree of off-platform freedom. And while his mechanics are imperfect, he can find uncanny ways to hit targets with good placement and touch.
Going further, Sanders’ processing — a trait honed across years of starting experience at the collegiate level — is also a relative strength. Sanders can operate pre-snap, recognize defensive looks, adjust protections, and progress through reads post-snap — and he’s a measured decision-maker who protects the ball more often than not.
New York would be a perfect landing spot for Shedeur, as he’s a perfect fit for a big-market team, would be able to handle the media and pressure that comes with that job, and he’d have talented weapons like Malik Nabers Jr. and Tyrone Tracy Jr.
