Seahawks Predicted To Upgrade Sam Darnold’s Weapons by Landing 26-TD WR1 in 2025 NFL Draft

The Seattle Seahawks have a new quarterback in Sam Darnold entering 2025. The Seahawks traded Geno Smith prior to free agency as they looked to shake things up a bit. Heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, there are a lot of directions this team can go with its first-round pick.

However, there is one area of need the team can certainly address at the draft. Seattle owns the 18th overall pick in this class. And PFSN’s recent NFL Mock Draft has the team landing a new top receiver for Darnold.

Seahawks Predicted To Land Top WR in 2025 NFL Draft

The Seahawks traded wide receiver DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason. Seattle needed to sign the 2019 second-round pick to an extension. However, Metcalf asked for a trade, which Seattle granted.

This created a need at receiver. Seattle had Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but the Seahawks certainly needed more depth behind him. To this end, they made some intriguing moves in free agency. The Seahawks signed Cooper Kupp and Marques Valdez-Scantling.

This gives Seattle some options in the passing game. However, there is still room to add more at the position. With this in mind, the Seahawks selected Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan with the 18th pick in PFSN’s recent mock draft.

“After trading Smith and DK Metcalf, the Seattle Seahawks brought in Sam Darnold as their quarterback. They’re still in need of another target opposite Jaxon Smith-Njigba, however. Tetairoa McMillan is a big receiver with strong hands and ball skills. He’s fluid for his size and creates separation with his physical traits,” PFSN contributor Jacob Infante wrote about the selection.

McMillan enjoyed a successful stint in college at Arizona. The Wildcats star finished third in the nation in receiving yards in 2024. Only Bowling Green’s Harold Fannin Jr. and San Jose State’s Nick Nash had more yards through the air last year.

Tools are always the top priority for teams in the NFL Draft. They look for the skill and potential in a prospect more than the production. However, it is hard to ignore just how productive McMillan was at the college level.

Nevertheless, he has found himself dropping down draft boards. At one time, McMillan was seen as a potential top-five pick. He was floated as the potential second wide receiver off the board following Colorado’s Travis Hunter. Now, he seems to be in the mid-first-round conversation.

Why he has dropped down the board is up for debate. But taking McMillan with the 18th pick would certainly be smart for the Seahawks. The Arizona product has a ton of upside, especially in the mid-to-late-first-round.

He could step in and make an impact from Week 1. This pick would give Seattle two young wide receivers with upside, as well. This certainly helps the team’s long-term outlook, and the two wideouts could be a big help for Darnold in 2025. If he isn’t the guy, they could also give a young quarterback options in the passing game to help him settle into the league.

The Seahawks have a few needs they could address at the 2025 NFL Draft. However, their top priority could be wide receiver. If McMillan falls to them at 18, it’s certainly a move this front office should consider.
