Despite the offseason being far from over, the Seattle Seahawks’ offense already looks entirely different than it did at the end of the 2024 season.
Most notably, the Seahawks dealt quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders, but they also traded wide receiver DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers and released veteran weapon Tyler Lockett. All of these losses would signify the unit is significantly worse, but Seattle’s front office wasted no time filling the gaps.
The Seahawks signed QB Sam Darnold to a lucrative deal and brought in triple-crown-winning WR Cooper Kupp. Still, Seattle may not be satisfied with their new-look offense, potentially leading them to sign a five-time Pro Bowler.

Seahawks Predicted To Sign WR Amari Cooper
A receiving duo of Kupp and Jaxon Smith-Njigba could already cause trouble for opposing secondaries, but adding Amari Cooper to the mix could put them over the top.
Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon predicts Seattle to sign Cooper after listing him as the third best remaining free agent.
“The Raiders should be in on Cooper too, but we’re giving them the younger, speedier and cheaper Moore. Seattle now has money to spend and the need for an X or Z receiver like Cooper to work with Cooper Kupp and Jaxon Smith-Njigba,” Gagnon wrote.
PFSN also named Cooper as one of the top remaining players in free agency but pitches the Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Falcons, and Green Bay Packers as ideal destinations. While all of these organizations are arguably in more desperate need of WR, the Seahawks have wasted no time showing their ambition this offseason.
Cooper split his time with the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills in 2024, appearing in 14 total games. He finished the year with 44 receptions for 547 yards and four touchdowns. These disappointing numbers from last season shouldn’t entirely push teams away from signing the 30-year-old, as he recorded 72 receptions for 1,250 yards in 2023.
Darnold is coming off a year where he could throw the ball to Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and T.J. Hockenson (when healthy). This led to Darnold slotting at No. 12 in PFSN’s QB+ metric while the Vikings’ offense came in at No. 13, per PFSN’s Offense+ data.
If the Seahawks are able to replicate that level of success with the addition of Cooper, there should be no hesitation to sign him. However, there is a greater fear looming for Seattle’s offense than adding another weapon for Darnold.
Their offensive line. Smith did a phenomenal job of hiding the weak points of Seattle’s offensive line, but it’s tough to say Darnold will be able to do the same given his shortcomings in the biggest games of the season.
So as long as the Seahawks intend to address this issue early in the 2025 NFL Draft, bringing in Cooper is an appealing idea.
