The Seattle Seahawks’ offense already looks quite different than it did a year ago largely due to the additions of quarterback Sam Darnold and wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
While Kupp and third-year WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba are certainly an appealing tandem for Darnold to work with, it’s still quite the downgrade from his weapons with the Minnesota Vikings, highlighted by Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
With Darnold under center in Minnesota, the Vikings’ offense was No. 13 in the NFL, according to PFSN’s Offense+ metric. Alternatively, the Seahawks’ unit slotted at No. 20. This means for Darnold to lead what Seattle is hoping will be a top-10 offense next season, adding another reliable receiving threat is an ideal route.

Seahawks Predicted To Sign Stefon Diggs
Stefon Diggs’ first campaign with the Houston Texans was cut short, as the 31-year-old recorded 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns in eight appearances. Despite the small sample size in 2024, the four-time Pro Bowler proved himself as a competent weapon in 2023 with more than 1,000 yards.
As a result, NFL.com’s Nick Shook predicted the Seahawks to sign Diggs in free agency, adding him to a new-look Seattle offense looking to compete for the NFC West title in 2025.
“The Seahawks have cap space and already took a swing on one 31-year-old receiver with a documented injury history, signing Cooper Kupp. Diggs’ path back to the field is complicated by the ACL injury that ended his 2024 campaign in October, and this pairing probably wouldn’t provide Diggs with a massive number of targets, presuming the Seahawks build out of the running game,” Shook said.
Diggs ranked at No. 41 in PFSN’s Top 121 NFL Free Agent Rankings, coming in one spot ahead of running back Najee Harris and one slot behind defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day. Darnold was No. 12 at his position last year, per PFSN’s QB+ data, and it’s hard to say if signing Diggs could keep that placement steady or raise it.
However, Diggs is now more accustomed to playing in a crowded WR room, and while he may still get frustrated with a lack of targets, his mindset is likely shifting in the right direction.

“But his versatility and experience — plus Seattle’s need to fill out its receiving corps — makes this an ideal fit. Bringing in Diggs and Kupp to join Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a solid retooling of a group that lost DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, especially if Diggs is inked to a short-term, relatively low-risk deal,” Shook concluded.
Just as Shook mentioned, there’s no serious downside to signing the reliable Pro Bowler to a short-term deal. With not much depth behind Kupp and Smith-Njigba, Diggs would give Seattle an option to start out wide with both their starters likely to fight for snaps in the slot.
